Sorrell, 73, of Fayetteville died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, in a Beckley hospital after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Fayetteville Christ Fellowship. Surviving: sons, Robert Lee Sorrell Jr. of Lordstown, Ohio, Andrew Oakley and Wesley Dean Sorrell of Hico, David Lucian, Theodore Garfield and Michael Ray Sorrell of Fayetteville; daughter, Angela Kay Angelona of Fayetteville; sister, Marion Carte of Hico; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Methodist Church, Hico, with the Rev. Robert Morey officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Ansted. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Jacob Michael Wallace Jacob Michael Wallace, infant son of Stephanie Martin and Mike Wallace of South Charleston, was stillborn Friday, Nov. 28, 1998, in Women and Children's Hospital. Also surviving: half-brothers, Justin, Jason and Andy at home; maternal grandfather, Roy Ross of Port Orange, Fla; maternal grandmother, Annabelle Ross of South Charleston; paternal grandparents, James C. Wallace and Janet Wallace of Eleanor. Private service will be held at a later date. Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, is in charge of arrangements on November 29, 1997.2

     Harold Julian "Charlie" Kowalsky was buried at Restlawn Memory Gardens, 1 Memory Garden Road, Ansted, Fayette Co., West Virginia.2 He was born on August 19, 1929 at Gatewood, Fayette Co., West Virginia.3,2 He married Pearlie Waveline Sorrell, daughter of Roy Oakley Cole and Hettie Ethel Sorrell, on December 23, 1953 at Oak Hill, Fayette Co., West Virginia.1,2 Harold Julian "Charlie" Kowalsky died on January 19, 2013 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 83.3,2 He FAYETTEVILLE — Harold Julian "Charlie" Kowalsky Sr., 83, of Fayetteville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following an extended illness. Born on August 19, 1929, at Gatewood, he was the son of the late Matthew James and Mary J. Kowalsky. Mr. Kowalsky was a disabled U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War Conflict. He was a member of the First Church of God at Fayetteville. He was a former Fayette County school bus driver. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Harold J. Kowalsky Jr., and grandson, Kenny Kowalsky. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Pearlie Waveline Sorrell Kowalsky of Fayetteville; four sons: Dennis J. (Libby) Kowalsky of Union, WV, Kenneth W. (Ginger) Kowalsky and Allen R. Kowalsky, Alvin E. (Leslie) Kowalsky, all of Fayetteville; three daughters: Sharon L. (Rodney) Gibson of Columbus, Ohio, Karen S. (Jim) Bledsoe of Carrolton, Ohio, and Brenda L. (David) Burgess of Fayetteville; three sisters, Janie, Susan, and Mary Jo; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his granddog, Princess. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Michael Parsons and Pastor Richard Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorials in his memory may be made to the First Church of God – Building Fund, 114 Harvey Street, Fayetteville, WV 25840. on January 22, 2013.2

Mr. Dempsey was born March 19, 1916, in Ansted, he was a son of the late Roy Houston and Nocha Rona Dempsey. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Claudis Cathleen Dempsey; four brothers and one sister, Ralph, Raleigh, Raymond, Roscoe and Verda McGraw. He was a charter member of Evergreen Baptist Church, Romont, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher; a member of Ansted Baptist Church where he served as a deacon; a coal miner for 37 years retired from Hawks Nest Mining Co; a member of UMWA; and a timberman for Webster Hardwood. He is survived by his children and their husbands, Rona Ethel and Thomas Fields I of Daniels, Reva Macil and James Lively of Powhatan, Va., Ruth Arbutus and Butch Skaggs of Ansted, Pamela Louise and Randy Miles of Midlothian, Va; 12 grandchildren, Thomas Lee Fields II of Midlothian, Va., Deborah Gale Cantley of Coolridge, Juanieta Catherine Richmond of Beaver, Sherill Lane Hanshew of Cumberland, Va., Wanda Marie Tabor of Cumberland, Va., Robert Vernon Hanshew of Powhatan, Va., Ruth Ann Church of Newport, Mich., Gregory Paul Skaggs of Ansted, Robert Douglas Skaggs of Lincoln Park, Mich., Cathy Lyn Demitroff of Brownstown, Mich., Michelle Miles Hammer of Midlothian, Va., Randall Lynn Miles Jr. "RJ" of Richmond, Va; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Rufus Jackson Dempsey; many loving nieces and nephews of the Dempsey family and many loving members of the Sorrell family. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ansted Baptist Church with the Rev. Garry Sorrell Jr. and Thomas Lee Fields II officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on January 4, 2008.4
