Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Crowder was born in Danville, Va., to the late Andrew Franklin Crowder and Kathleen G. Crowder Carter. He was formerly employed with the Department of Transportation Bridge Division. He attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. In his later years, his hobbies were woodworking and attending auctions. He is survived by wife, Margaret Stone Crowder, of the home; sons, Joe Ward and wife, Donna and Henry Ward and wife, Florine, all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Heather Heffner, Crystal Ward, Amanda Ward, Brandie Locklear and Angel Davis; great-grandchildren, Zackery Locklear, Scotlynn Heffner and Brooklyn Norman; sisters, Stella Wilson of Axton, Va., Genevieve Critz of Ridgeway, Va. and Doris Stone and husband, Clarence, of Reidsville; and brother, Hardy "Wayne" Carter and wife, Brenda, of Eden. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times. on May 1, 2003.¹

Mrs. Snidow was born in Radford, Va. on November 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Josie Graham. She attended schools in many locations in the Southeast and graduated from high school at Dublin High School in Dublin, Va. Mrs. Snidow was employed by Burlington Industries in Virginia, Welcome Wagon in North Carolina, Pool Mfg. and K Mart in Sherman, Texas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Marcus R. Snidow of Sherman, Texas; daughter Toni Lynn Snidow of Austin, Texas; sons, Barry Graham Snidow of Dallas, Texas and Kenneth Scott Snidow and his wife, Carla Thompson of Denison, Texas; granddaughters, Shawn Michelle Snidow of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Kristin Meurer and husband, Ryan of Fayetteville, N.C., Emily Thompson of Waco, Texas; and grandson, Clint Thompson of Denison, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Celeste Meurer of Fayetteville, N.C. Graveside services for Joan Graham Snidow will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at West Hill Cemetery. Dr. Jim Pledger and Dr. Tom Peel of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at Dannel Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 401 N.      Marcus Reeder "Mark" Snidow was buried at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas.² He was born on September 26, 1923 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,2 He married Joan Evelyn Graham, daughter of Kenneth Ellis Graham and Josie L. Lester, on June 2, 1951 at Dublin, Pulaski Co., Virginia.² Marcus Reeder "Mark" Snidow died on June 11, 2012 at Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas, at age 88.² He SHERMAN - Marcus Reeder (Mark) Snidow, residing at The Renaissance of Sherman, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, at the age of 88. Mark was born to Lloyd Reeder Snidow and Mattie Givens Snidow in Roanoke, Va. on September 26, 1923. He graduated High School in Roanoke and attended Virginia Tech where he earned a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. Mark married the love of his life, Joan Graham, in Dublin, Va. on June 2, 1951. In their later years together, they enjoyed traveling to Europe and taking trips to historical sites with their grandchildren. He faithfully nursed her through Alzheimer's disease until her passing in 2004. They had three children. Mark was an industrial engineer with Burlington Industries for 38 years before retirement. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Sherman. Mark was a true old-school gentleman whose kindness, decency and gentle sense of humor will be sorely missed. Mark was predeceased by his wife, Joan Graham Snidow, his parents and by his brother Carroll Givens Snidow. Surviving family members are: daughter, Toni Lynn Snidow; son, Barry Graham Snidow and wife Michele Mikesell; son Kenneth Scott Snidow and wife Carla Thompson; granddaughter, Kristin Snidow Meurer and husband Ryan; granddaughter, Shawn Snidow and husband Josh Averbeck; granddaughter, Ivy Gorden; granddaughter, Emily Thompson Gandy and husband Lucky Gandy; grandson, Clint Thompson; great-granddaughter, Celeste Meurer; great-granddaughter, Audrey Gandy; and great-grandson, Landon Gandy; one sister, Edith Snidow Dollins and brother-in-law Phil Dollins of Waynesboro, Va; sister-in-law, Norma Snidow of Roanoke, Va; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Seasons at The Renaissance and American Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care of Mark. Those who wish to do so may make a contribution in Mark's memory to the memorial fund of First United Methodist Church of Sherman. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Sherman, with Rev. Ed Goolsby and Dr. Jim Pledger officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Dannel Funeral Home. on June 13, 2012.²
