     John Lewis Bell Sr. was born on April 13, 1938 at Floyd Co., Virginia.3 He married Anna Lee Hickson on April 26, 1962 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2,4 John Lewis Bell Sr. died on January 11, 2015 at Virginia at age 76.2 He John Lewis Bell Sr., 76, of Vinton, Va., peacefully made his journey to Heaven on Sunday, January 11, 2015, with family by his side. He retired from US Foods Service as a truck driver, where he loved his job and especially enjoyed his trips to Virginia Tech. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Bell; mother, Emily Gay Stump Bell; sister, Betty Lou Estes; and son, Anthony Derwin Bell. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Bell; children, Mark, John and Christopher; grandchildren, Gavin Bell, Jossie Campbell, Arieanna Campbell, John Stanley Bell, Vanassa Thomas, Tabatha Mehmedovic, and Jonathon Bell; and seven great-grandchildren. John was a dedicated ongoing foster parent with his wife for many years. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia Reece and her husband, Elliott; several nieces; and a nephew. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Elmo McLaurin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. on January 14, 2015.2

     Jackson Lafayette Howell Aliff was born on September 27, 2012.1 He died on February 4, 2013 at Virginia.1 He On February 4, 2013, Jackson Lafayette Howell Aliff received his healing from Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and Pulmonary Hypertension. Waiting at Heaven's gates for Jackson with open arms were his great Papaws, Edward Jackson "Jack" Craig, Walter Lafayette Henley, and Robert Curtis Howell; his Nan Nan, Evelyn Mae Gray Aliff; Ne Ne Juanita Hawkins Craig; his little baby aunt or uncle; great-uncle, Jerry; and so many other loved ones that went on before him. On September 27, 2012, God blessed Jake and Cheyenne Aliff with their little fighter, Jackson. He brought so much love and faith to this world when he was born and touched so many lives as people all over the world fell in love with and prayed for him every day. He could melt your heart instantly with those baby blue eyes and eyebrows with which he talked. He had so much fight in him and it was evident every day. Jackson was truly an Angel sent by God. Waiting to join Jackson in Heaven are his parents, Timothy "Jake" Jacob Craig Aliff and Cheyenne Michele Howell Aliff; his grandparents, Tim and Kim Aliff, and the Rev. Curtis and Wanda Howell; great-grandparents, Katie Henley, Mary Howell, and Nancy Aliff; his aunts, Shannon Puckett and husband, Bruce, Tammy Hayes and husband, Dennis, Cherokee Dooley and husband, Tony; uncle, Jeremiah Howell and wife, Katie; also countless great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and many other family and friends. The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff at the University of Virginia NICU. The love you had for Jackson was evident in the way you cared for him and even in the fights over who was his number one girlfriend. We can never thank you enough for becoming a part of our family these past four months and the love you gave to Jackson and us. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Walnut Grove Union Church with his Papaw, the Rev. Curtis Howell, and Pastor Bob Auxier officiating. He was born in Copper Hill, Va. on March 5, 1936. He graduated from Check High School and enlisted in the Air Force. After an honorable discharge, Stanley worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 30 years. He also drove for Abbott Bus Lines for three years after retiring from Greyhound. Stanley was a beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Papa. He was predeceased by his parents, Ballard and Annie Perdue, and a brother, Nelson Perdue. He leaves behind his beloved wife/nurse of 57 years, Virginia Perdue; four children, Monica Perdue Johnson, Allyson Perdue, Bryan Perdue (Tina) and Charles Perdue (Brenda); and five grandchildren, Marysa Johnson, Noah Perdue, Connar Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Colton Perdue. He also leaves behind two sisters, Janice Mallory (Danny), Joyce Willis; and numerous relatives and friends. He was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church and was a very dedicated member of the Gold Band Sunday School Class. He was Secretary of the Greyhound Retiree's club, a Free Mason and Shriner. He loved to take care of his house, work in the garden, and manicure his yard. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors. He was called Papa by many because he was so fun-loving. In his later years, he loved sweets and ice cream. All the kids loved to visit Papa's "kitchen" which was his snack stash and enjoy "just a little bit" of his ice cream. Stanley was very generous with his time and talents and never expected pay or recognition. He helped all his children with any home project needed and if he didn't know how to do something, he would read about it and become a master. He was known as the "Mayor" of the neighborhood with his quick wit and charm. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Va., with Pastor Nelson Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Va., where military honors will be performed by the United States Air Force. on October 27, 2020.2

He retired from General Electric of Salem in 2002 with 37 years of service.The family would like to thank the Dialyses Center of Salem for their compassionate care. Special thanks go to the neighbors of Beverly Heights for their friendship and help during Nelson's illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Art Hearne officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.
