She was born April 8, 1928 in Tionesta, PA to the late Charles and Lottie Carll Host. She has resided in Warren, PA since 1946 and was a 1946 graduate of West Forest High School. She was employed with Blair Corporation in the finishing dept. for 18 years. She had previously been employed with the former G.G. Greene Co. and Browns Boot Shop. Char was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Women of the Warren Moose, Lodge 109 where she enjoyed playing Bingo and Trivia. She was a member of the Warren Eagles Aerie. Char was an avid bowler, traveler and beach lover. Her family was the center of her life, she especially loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her 3 children Holly and Cindy Zaffino, Jeff F. Zaffino and his wife, Diane, 2 grandchildren Kyle and Ashley Zaffino all of Warren, PA, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Bruno J. “Jeff” Zaffino whom she married September 19, 1956 in Warren, Pa., who died December 1, 1991, her siblings, Jeanette Licht, Charles Host, Audean Blum, John Host, Allen Host. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. on June 17, 2013.3

She is survived by her husband, James H. Blum of Irvine, whom she married Dec 16, 1956; a son, Scott Blum of Dunn's Eddy, Pa; a grandson; a brother, Allen Host of New Hampshire; and a sister, Charolette Zaffino of Warren. She was preceded in death by a son, Craig A. Blum; a sister, Jeanette Licht; and two brothers: John and Charles Host. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the McKinney Funeral Home, Youngsville. The Rev. Anet Gruber, pastor of Tionesta Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Warren Memorial Park. Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Warren County, P.O. Box 68, Warren, Pa., 16365.

He attended electronics school in Fort Wayne, Ind., and had been employed by Grumman Aircraft and Renco Industries, both of Long Island, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He is survived by a brother, Allen R. Host of Gorham, N.H; and two sisters: Charlotte M. Zaffino of Warren and Audine Blum of Irvine. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles F. Host; and a sister, Jeannette Licht. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home, Tionesta. The Rev. Anette V. Gerber, pastor of the Tionesta United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Tionesta.

Samulewski, 50, a resident of Millcreek Township, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Jan. 1, 2007, in his residence. A resident of the Erie area all of his life, he was born in Erie March 13, 1956, a son of Helen Machinski Samulewski of Erie and the late Theodore Samulewski. He was a 1975 graduate of Academy High School, Erie, and attended Gannon College for two years. Mr. Samulewski had worked as an HVAC Technician at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, for the past 28 years. He was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, Erie. Mr. Samulewski enjoyed golfing, bicycling, birding, nature and the outdoors. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 20 years, Julie Carll Samulewski; a brother, Dennis Samulewski and wife, Janet, of Sacramento, Calif; and his beloved birds, Zachary Taylor and Ivory Pearl. He also is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and aunts and uncles. His wife's family includes his mother-in-law, Mary J. Carll of Auburndale, Fla; a brother-in-law, Gary; sisters-in-law, Jackie, Jean, Margaret, Mary Beth, Janice, and Caroline and their respective families living in Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Ohio and New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Alfred Lewis Carll; his twin brother, Daniel, in infancy; his grandparents, Stanley and Waleria Waskiewicz Machinski and Stanley and Magdelina Samulewski; and two beloved feathered "babies," Peaches Marie and Spike. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Road and Pine Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Peter Cathedral, Erie. Interment will be in Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery, Erie. Memorials may be made to the Erie Zoo, P.O. Box 3268, Erie, 16508. on January 3, 2007.1

Peg was born in Oil City PA on February 21, 1955 to Alfred L. and Mary J. Kluck Carll, the 4th of 8 children. She graduated from Venango Christian High School in 1973 and attended Bryant & Stratton College in Buffalo, NY. Peg loved to travel and she lived at various times in PA, Kansas, Florida, Alabama and Georgia; residing in Fowler OH for the past 20 years. Her travels took her to France, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Yugoslavia and Panama as well as to New York, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado and Nevada. After her husband, Carl Holder, died in 1984, Peg trained and worked as a STNA and HHA, and settled in Ohio. She was diagnosed with cancer in October 2015 and fought bravely until the end. Peg was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Surviving are one brother and six sisters, Gary and Margaret A. Carll of Fayetteville PA, Jackie L. Carll and husband Richard Sanderson of Canastota NY, Jean M. Schiffer of Auburndale FL, Julie A. Carll of Chambersburg PA, Mary Beth and Dave Coleman of Lawrenceville NJ, Janice Carll of Wesley Chapel FL, and Caroline and Perry Whitling of Winter Haven FL. Peg is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and great nephews, who all enjoyed visiting Aunt Peggy. Interment will follow in Amity Cemetery in Newmansville PA. on August 24, 2016.1
