A life-long resident of Giles County, he was born February 10, 1933 and was the son of the late Daniel French and Cherry Mae Fletcher Deweese. He was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows. Daniel was known as the "Apple Man". He could be seen pulling his little red wagon along the highway in Giles County and surrounding areas, going from town to town selling his apples door to door for $1.00 a bag. He is survived by his wife, Vernie Fleeman Deweese, Narrows; brothers, Marvin R. Deweese, Draper, F. Everett Deweese, Charlotte, N.C., Charles E. Deweese, Roanoke; sisters, Mary Colgin, Sandston, Cora Crockett, Pearisburg, Ida Kessinger, Pulaski, Lena Stone, Purcellville, Barbara Jones, Clayton, N.C., Margaret Henson, Dumfries. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows, Va., with the Rev. James Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows, Va. on May 22, 1995.4
