She was born in Pearisburg, on June 6, 1947, a daughter of the late Willa J. and William O. Poff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Jean Poff and sister-in-law, Betty B. Poff. Joy was a loving and caring sister and aunt. Left to cherish her memory are brothers, Robert "Bob" Poff and wife Irene, Lawrence W. Poff; nieces and nephews, Marty and Jami Poff and their children, John and Jay; Donna A. Spangler, husband Jerry and their child, Cameron; Douglas Poff, wife Beth and their children, Alex and Carson; Lisa Poff and her children, Henry and Ellie; special friends, Shirley Blevins, Sharon and Bob Layman, and Mark and Carolyn Hicks. Joy joined the United States Army in 1981 and served her country abroad. She loved to travel and traveled to France, Germany, Australia, Jamaica and Italy. She enjoyed the beach, especially Myrtle Beach. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit here in Roanoke and was a longtime member of Pearisburg United Methodist Church. Joy retired from I.T.T. A special thank you to the staff members in the Hospice Unit at the V A Medical Center who provided such loving and compassionate care during Joy's illness. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice Unit at the V A Medical Center 1970 Roanoke Boulevard Salem, Virginia 24153. Funeral Services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 in the mausoleum chapel at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by Joy's friend and minister, the Rev. Mark Hicks. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road, 540-366-0707. on July 5, 2014.2

Betty retired from Elizabeth Arden and was a member of Raleigh Ct. Presbyterian Church. She was active at Oak Grove Elementary School, where she was known to the children as Granny Poff. Betty was known for her kindness, unselfishness and loving ways. She will be missed by all those who knew her. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Darrel H. Buckland and Edith Johnson Buckland; one brother, Darrel H. Buckland Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Lawrence Wayne "Red" Poff of Roanoke; loving son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Jami Poff of Roanoke; loving daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jerry Spangler of Salem; loving grandchildren, John Hardwick and Jay Poff, expected grandson, Cameron Spangler; six sisters, Lois Thompson of Kellysville, W.Va., Jerry Houchins of Pearisburg, Luella LaFon of Salem; Flora Elizabeth McClearney of Rich Creek, Sylvia Munsey of Pearisburg, and Clara Ruth Miller of Peterstown, W.Va. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, other relatives and loving friends. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel 2 pm. Monday, May 19, 1997 with the Dr. F. Tupper Garden officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South Chapel. on May 17, 1997.1

Additionally, she was involved in a variety of church, school and community activities that supported her sons and grandchildren. Flora Ann was retired after 30 years as secretary for C.E. Silling and Associates Architects, later Silling Associates. She also worked as a secretary at Kanawha State Forest and as school secretary at Loudendale and Oakwood Elementary Schools. Her lifes work was to take care of her family which she dearly loved. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Mr. Joseph J. "Joe" Robertson; sons Joseph L. (Mary Margaret), John David (Kimberly) and Jeffrey Scott (special friend, Vicky Walker); sister, Rebecca Poff; grandchildren, Joey Robertson (Laura) of Pinch, Mark Robertson of Baltimore, MD, Bethany (Dylan) Creedon of Santa Rosa, CA, Allyson Robertson (fiancee Jason Shipe) of Morgantown, Sarah (Ryan) Deatrick of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Nicholas Robertson (fiancee Jess Manza) of Morgantown; great grandsons, Gavin and Eli Robertson. Special thanks to caregivers Mary, Sonja, Nancy, Terry, Peggy and Brandy who became extended members of the family. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 1 at Harding Funeral Home, 514 50th Street SE, Kanawha City. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 2 at St. Marks United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monty Brown officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be immediately following the service at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. on November 30, 2013.5

     Joseph Johnson Robertson was buried at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2 He was born on December 23, 1923 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,3 He married Flora Ann Poff, daughter of Houston Lee Poff and Myrtle Mae Miller, on December 22, 1944 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1,2,4 Joseph Johnson Robertson died on October 17, 2015 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 91.2,3 He Joseph Johnson Robertson, 91, of Charleston, passed away Oct. 17, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House with his family at his side. He was born in Charleston on Dec. 23, 1923 to Mary Elizabeth Simmons and Elpha H. Robertson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and life partner of 69 years, Flora Ann Poff Robertson; brothers, Elmer "Brud" and Robert; sisters, Elizabeth Conner and Frances Milburn; and stepmother, Euda Robertson. Joe was a graduate of Charleston High School, Class of 1942. He retired after 35 years service at Union Carbide-South Charleston. He was a veteran of World War II in the United States Coast Guard. Joe was a charter member of Ruffner Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and had the longest years of membership. He was very active in his community, particularly through his service as a 50 year member of Lions Clubs International. Joe was charter president of the Loudendale Lions Club and member of the Kanawha City Lions Club. He served in many leadership positions in the District and State, including District Governor of 29-0 and Trustee and Past President of the WV Lions Sight and Hearing Conservation Foundation. He received both the Melvin Jones Fellow and Leonard Jarrett Award. Mr. Robertson is survived by three sons, Joseph Lee (Mary Margaret), John David (Kimberly) and Jeffrey Scott (special friend, Vickie Walker), all of Charleston; sister, Barbara (Eddie) Henley of St. Albans; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Poff of Charleston. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren, Joey (Laura) Robertson of Pinch, Mark Robertson of Halethrope, Md., Bethany (Dylan) Creedon of Santa Rosa, Calif., Allyson (Jason) Shipe of Huntersville, N.C., Sarah (Ryan) Deatrick of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Nicholas (Jess) Robertson of Morgantown. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Gavin and Eli Robertson and Lucy Creedon. The family expresses special thanks to caregivers, Priss and Belva of Tender Heart Home Care; home caregivers, Mary, Sonja, Nancy, Terry, Peggy and Brandy; Dr. William L. Harris and Dr. James Griffith; and the staff at Hubbard Hospice House. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Harding Funerals & Cremations, 514 50th St. SE, Kanawha City. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Monty Brown officiating and with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow immediately at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. on October 19, 2015.2

Pettigrew.4 Harold Nash Means was born on November 1, 1899 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,3,5 He died on July 26, 1975 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 75.3,6 He Harold "Shag" Means, 75, of 103 Kenna Dr., South Charleston, died Saturday in Pinecrest Hospital, Beckley, after a long illness. He was a retired maintenance employe of the St. Albans library. Mr. Means was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, South Charleston, and was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. Surviving: wife, Stella P; brothers, Reginald of Dunbar, Billy of Richmond, Va. on July 27, 1975.6
