He was born June 11, 1913, in Marion and lived here all of his life. He was employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co., for 27 years and worked at a sub-station as an electrician. He was married Sept. 8, 1936, to Helen Ainsworth at Princeton, Ill. Mr. Luense served in World war II with the navy Seabees. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and Marion post No. 298, American Legion. He served two terms, from 1954-58, as a city councilman. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Jim L., of St. Ansgar and Steve E. of Marion, and one grandchild. Services: St. Joseph's church Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Justin A. Kane. The Rosary will be recited at the Baxter Memo rial chapel Monday at 7:30 p.m. Marion post will conduct military rites. on November 13, 1972.6

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Manson, The pastor, Rev. J. Pickensgrill, being in charge. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ross of Pomeroy attended the service. on September 1, 1949.10

She graduated from Manson High School in 1939 and attended the American Institute of Business, Des Moines. Irma was united in marriage with John Floden Oct. 10, 1942, at her uncle's home in Waterloo. Irma worked for Meinerz Creamery (later Beatrice Cheese) in Fredericksburg. She retired in 1985. Irma was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sumner until 1983, at which time she joined Faith Evangelical Church, Sumner. She was a member of the Faith Women's Missionary Group and played the organ and piano for both churches. Survivors include her husband, John, Sumner; eight children, Robert Floden, New Hampton, Patricia (Ray) Fox, Waterloo, Jon (Debbie) Floden, D'Iberville, Miss., David (Kathy) Floden, Van Meter, Ronald (Wanda) Floden, Sterling, Vir., Diane (Jim) Sterba, Sumner, Donna Floden, Calvert City, Ky., and Merri Harris, Sumner; 14 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. on January 19, 2006.1

     John Alfred Floden was buried at Wilson Grove Cemetery, Sumner, Bremer Co., Iowa.1,2 He was born on November 12, 1921 at Nashua, Chickasaw Co., Iowa.1,2 He married Irma Jane Foster, daughter of Harley Helmic Foster and Leda Harriett/Harriet Shifflett, on October 10, 1942 at Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa.3,1,2,4 John Alfred Floden died on November 5, 2012 at New Hampton, Chickasaw Co., Iowa, at age 90.2 He SUMNER — John Alfred Floden, 90, of Sumner, died Monday, Nov. 5, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton. He was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Nashua, son of Richard and Myrtle Goodwin Floden. He married Irma Jane Foster on Oct. 10, 1942, in Waterloo. She died Jan. 13, 2006. Mr. Floden graduated from Waverly High School in 1938 and later attended Iowa State University, Ames. He did carpentry work and farmed in the Sumner area for many years. He had been a member of First Baptist Church and also Faith Evangelical Church, both in Sumner. Survived by: four daughters, Patricia (Ray) Fox of Waterloo, Diane (Jim) Sterba and Merri (Johnny) Tucker, both of Sumner, and Donna Floden of Possum Trot, Ky; three sons, Jon (Debbie) of D’Iberville, Miss., David (Kathy) of Van Meter and Ronald (Wanda) of Sterling, Va; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Kolarich of Godfrey, Ill., and Marlyn (Ralph) Boleyn of Washburn; a brother, Glen (Ginny) of St. Peters, Mo; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Floden of Mount Vernon. Preceded in death by: a son, Robert; and a brother, Louis. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Sumner, with burial in Wilson Grove Cemetery, rural Sumner. on November 8, 2012.2
