Doris Marlene Hamilton Doris Marlene Jacobs, 82 ,daughter of Clyde Hamilton and Ruby Myers entered into eternal life February 25, 2017. She is reunited with husband Leonard (Jake) and son Mike Jacobs. Doris is survived by daughters Pamela Egan (Shawn) and Sandra Leonard (Billy) and son Robert Jacobs; grandchildren Arayna, Ariel, Shane, Kaylee, Chelsea, Mitchell and Logan; great granddaughter Adeline; brothers Donald Hamilton and Gary Hamilton. Doris began life in Kirksville, Missouri where walking to school in the snow was a regular occurrence. In early childhood she suffered a major hearing loss due to measles, she took lip reading classes at the local college while in high school to help with communication, she was very happy when tiny hearing aids came out later in life to aid her "good" ear. After high school Doris went to work in a fan factory, her nickname was muscles. Soon after she met Jake, an airman stationed in Kirksville. They married 5 1/2 months later in Jake's hometown of Charleston, WV because his grandfather wanted to meet the girl from former President Truman's state. While giving birth to their 2nd child Michael Gene in Missouri, Doris told the doctor she would be moving to Florida, no more snow for her, as her husband got a job with the space program. They moved to Eau Gallie, bought a house and had two more children. Doris helped with school plays, Brownies, Girl Scouts. She didn't mind baseball in the yard but said no to running behind the bug spray truck with the other neighborhood kids. Her fondest hobby was painting, she enjoyed using acrylics and later watercolor at the Senior Center. She loved babies, Doris was a big help watching her nephew, then great niece and grandchildren when needed. She was hopeful to watch her great granddaughter, she was able to enjoy holding her before she was too weak. Doris had an aortic valve replacement in 1993 due to childhood rheumatic fever and vowed never to watch another soap opera again. She didn't want to waste time and ventured out much more. She was a friend to many and heartbroken when friends died or moved away. This is what brought her to McDonalds and a lovely group of friends. Jake joined Doris at McDs group soon after. Doris and Jake enjoyed a memorable trip with family to Europe. They also liked to drive back to Missouri and West Virginia to see family whenever they could. After Jake's death, Doris tried to stay busy with several day trips arranged through the Senior Center in addition to the watercolor lessons offered there. Throughout her years in Eau Gallie, Doris attended Palmdale Presbyterian, then Calvary Baptist and later Beacon Baptist with husband Jake. We will miss her beautiful smile.2 She was born on January 21, 1935 at Missouri.1,3 As of December 11, 1957,her married name was Jacobs.1 She married Leonard Eugene "Gene" Jacobs, son of Bernard Jacobs and Melissa T.
