     John O. Reynolds John O. Reynolds, January 13, 1935 - January 29, 2021. John was born in Charleston, West Virginia. At 13 years of age, he decided that he would be a pilot. He soloed a sea plane on the Kanawha River in Charleston at age 16. Enlisted in the USAF at age 18, he served a year tour in Narsarsuaq, Greenland before entering the USAF Aviation Cadet program at age 19. John graduated distinguished from pilot training school in September 1956 as a Second Lieutenant and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command at Homestead AFB, FL. He flew the B-47 bomber on many tours in North Africa and Spain on nuclear alert during the Cold War. While at Homestead AFB, he met and married his wife, Joy. They had their first child, Jaye Lynn, in November 1960 and moved to Little Rock AFB, AR where he continued as aircraft commander of a B-47 crew. In 1963, John was assigned to Carswell AFB, TX, where at age 27 he became one of the two youngest pilots to fly the new supersonic Mach 2 B-58 bomber. While at Carswell AFB, they had their second child, Mark John, in August 1963. In May 1966, John resigned his commission in the regular Air Force, accepted a commission in the Air Force Reserve, and joined American Airlines where over the next 29 years he flew the Lockheed Electra, BAC 111, Boeing 727, Boeing 707, Douglas DC-10, Boeing 767 and 757. After leaving the Air Force, John continued his military service in the Air Force Reserve retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1978. He retired as a Captain from American Airlines in January 1995. John was a member of The Grey Eagles, The B-58 Hustler Association, The Reserve Officers Association, The Military Officers Association, The American Legion, and the Southwestern Yacht Club. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joy and survived by daughter Jaye and her husband Frank Prater, son Mark and wife Theresa, six grandchildren, and brother Paul Reynolds of Charleston, WV. He was also preceded in death by father Orville, mother Virginia, and brother David.3 He married Joyce "Joy" Kollmann.3,4 John O. Reynolds was born on January 13, 1935 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.3 He died on January 29, 2021 at Texas at age 86.3

Mom, we love you very much and no matter how far apart we are at this time, one day we will all be together again in a place of happiness and joy and no more tears or pain. We want to thank you for being a wonderful mother and always guiding us in the right direction and teaching us to love unconditionally. Survivors include children, Terry (Marybeth) Copley, Muscle Shoals, Ala., Mark Copley, Charlotte, N.C., and Donna Copley, Charlotte, N.C; sisters, Cora Lee Hodge, Nora Copley, Lora Copley, all of North Manchester, Ind., and Patricia Christy, Beckley; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Butler, Stephanie (Chad) Jackson, and Matthew (Kari) Copley; great-grandchildren Jackson Butler, Parker Butler, Walter Jackson, and Mary Martin Jackson.      Robert Lemuel Thompson Sr. was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.4,5 He was born on August 14, 1912 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,3,5 He married Mary Josephine Goad, daughter of Alexander Hewitt "Alex" Goad and Donna Deel Procious, on November 3, 1935 at Gallia Co., Ohio.1,7,2,8 Robert Lemuel Thompson Sr. died on December 20, 1960 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 48.5,6 He Robert Lemuel (Bob) Thompson, 48, of 1916 Preston St., foreman of the Daily Mail pressroom, died today in McMillan Hospital following an illness of one week. Mr. Thompson had been at his home until his condition worsened somewhat yesterday. Hs entered the hospital at 12:45 p.m. Monday and died today at 7:43 a.m. He had been an employe of the Daily Mail since September of 1928, starting as a mail room employe. He went to work in the pressroom on Dec. 9, 1929, and became foreman in 1946. The hospital announced that the cause of Mr. Thompson's death had not been determined and that an autopsy would be performed. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Josephine; two sons, Robert Jr., a graduate student at Harvard University, and Thomas Craig Thompson at home; three daughters, Mrs. David Kirk of Durham, N.C., Mrs. Homer Taylor Jr., of Charleston, and Miss Sharon Thompson, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Hawk, Mrs. Roy Blizzard and Mrs. Harry Hanna, all of Charleston; one brother, John Marshall Thompson of Charleston, and one grandchild. on December 20, 1960.6
