Mike spent his entire adult life as a driver and was employed with P.R. Gibson at the time of his death. Mike also loved fishing, listening to country music, and spending time with his family. His unending smile, pleasant demeanor, and positive attitude were always evident, despite any odds. His presence will be sorely missed by his friends, co-workers and his family. In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his wife of 13 years, Cathy Wingrove Gwaltney; children, Kimberly Connell and Michael Gwaltney, Jr; four grandchildren, Kristen Lawson, Andrew Lawson, Ethan Gwaltney and Evan Gwaltney; stepchildren, Angela Ivey, Sonya Greene, and Eric Greene; stepgrandchildren, Zack, Sabra, Max, Thomas, Ryan and Kyle; brother, Don Young; sister, Patricia Claiborne; sister-in-law, Kathy Rollins; brother-in-law, Paul Claiborne. Also surviving are Mike's grandmother, Edith Young of Roanoke; and many loving nieces and nephews. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. on September 25, 2007.2
