Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Joel Fred and Eva Mull Bagwell and widower of Mozelle Hensley Bagwell. Mr. Bagwell served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the Pacific Theater. He retired after 43 years in the trucking industry. He was a member of Groveland Baptist Church in Taylors. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mitzi Bagwell of Greer; five grandchildren, Angela Hudson, Stevie Bagwell, Michael Harrison and wife Nancy, Shauna Bagwell, and Regina Harrison; three great-grandchildren, Destini Bagwell, Austin Hudson, and Hailey Harrison; and one sister, Doris Jane Goldsmith of Travelers Rest. Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda G. Harrison; five brothers; and two sisters. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial to follow the service in Graceland West Cemetery. The family is at the residence. on June 9, 2009.2

Terry Vernon and wife Tammy, Michael Vernon and wife Laura and Sammy Vernon, all of Eden. He had 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He had two special companions, the late Ms. Ruby Stump and, surviving, Ms. Lessie Price. He served in the Navy in World War II on the USS Ira Jeffrey in both the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet. He was a truck driver for Pilot Freight Carriers for 33 1/2 years. He spent his later years playing in a bluegrass band, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also played Santa Claus at the Boys & Girls Club for a number of years. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Reynolds Funeral Home and at Terry and Tammy's house at 1218 Forrest Road at other times. Memorials may be made to the Eden Boys & Girls Club and Rockingham County Hospice. on March 4, 2002.5

Those left to cherish her memory are three brothers James Padgett of Martinsville, VA, George (Georgie) Padgett of Patrick Springs, VA, and Ricky (Libby) Padgett also of Patrick Springs, VA; four sisters Erma Sides of Boonville, Lavern (Dallas) Cooke of Winston Salem, Opal Patterson of Patrick Springs VA, and Mary (John) Spillman of East Bend; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Lee Patterson, Thomas Divers Patterson, Noble Jessie Patterson, John David Patterson and one sister, Helen Patterson Welch. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wayne Patterson. Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife Opal Padgett Patterson of the home; daughters Phyllis Patterson Nester and her husband James of Horsepasture; Karen Patterson Mills and her husband Sam of Stella; Lisa Patterson Hill and her husband Rick of Vesta; sons David Patterson and his wife Marie of Stella and George Julius Patterson of Spencer; daughter-in-law Phyllis Barbour-Patterson of Patrick Springs; grandchildren Derrick Nester and his wife Amy of Martinsville; Patrick Nester and his wife Amanda of Stella; D. J. Patterson of Staunton, VA; Daniel Hill and his wife Samantha of Stuart; Josh Hill of Mount Airy, NC; Heather Patterson Rorrer and her husband Eric of Kernersville, NC; Brandi Patterson Willie and her husband Dana of Staunton, VA; Tara Patterson Shuler and her husband Brian of Martinsville; seven great-grandchildren and a very special caregiver, Mary Hagwood Penn of Critz. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Stella Christian Church with Ministers Lee Ashley, Curt Ashley and Steve Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home at 110 Patterson Lane in Stella. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Homecare of Memorial Hospital and Dr. Nicholas Kipreos.
