Mr. Conrey, an army veteran of World War II, was a lifelong Knoxville resident and retired nursing assistant at the Veterans Medical Center here. He is survived by three brothers, Martin of Salt Lake City and Duane and Clinton both of Des Moines; and four sisters, Louise Holzworth of Knoxville, Vanita Woodward of Van Nuys, Calif., and Alberta Loynachan and Hester Glasby, both of Adele. on February 13, 1990.5

She was forced to retire in 2001 due to health reasons. Shirley had many interests; she loved horses and enjoyed craft projects. She also liked to sew and put together flower arrangements. Her greatest love was her family and she cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, mother and sisters. Shirley passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2005 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Aaron Hancock of Altoona, Amy Hancock of Pleasantville and Jackie Hancock of Pleasantville; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, and Tanner; her mother, Norma Luther of Pleasantville and 3 sisters, Barb Pettyjohn, Kerry Luther and Bridget Luther all of Pleasantville and many other family members and friends. Funeral Service were held at the Church of Christ in Pleasantville, Iowa, on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Don Hill, officiating. Casket Bearers were Kirby Sites, Adam Pettyjohn, Trevor Pettyjohn, Jeramy Pettyjohn, Matthew Martinez, and Gary Pettyjohn. Honorary Casket Bearer was Specialist Justin Olivier. Interment was held in the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established in Shirley's name. on December 1, 2005.1

She married Pete Hodak at Holy Family Catholic Church on Sept. 3, 1960. Eileen worked for Mason City school cafeteria and later for years at Sears Roebuck, retiring in l994. In l995, she worked for American Greeting Card and in l997 began working as a jewelry merchandiser for area stores. Her favorite memories and times were years spent camping with family and friends, many years of friendship spent playing volleyball, golfing, houseboating in Alma, Wis., walking, tea housing, and traveling. Her most meaningful times were spent with her husband and children, and "making memories" with her grandchildren. She spent her last months living life to the fullest and making the most of every day. She passed peacefully at home with her family by her side. Survivors include her husband, Pete; children, Robin (Kevin) Fields, of Muscatine; Randi (David) Smith, of Mansfield, Texas; Greg (Allyson) Hodak, of Iowa Falls; and grandchildren, Allison and Mackenzie Fields; Addison Smith; and Sean, Emily and Alana Hodak; her sister, Coleen Milligan, of West Des Moines; brothers, Tim (Chris) Conrey, of Oelwein; Tom (Loretta) Conrey, of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Gwen Conrey, of Des Moines; Kay McDowell, of Omaha; brother-in-law, Nick (Wanda) Hodak, of Mason City, and several nieces and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae Conrey and Clinton Conrey; and father and mother-in-law, Frank and Peterine Hodak. on August 17, 2004.2
