Survivors include six sons, Bill and Tracey Melvin of Matoaka, Chester Melvin of Princeton, Arthur Melvin of Middletown, Lacy Melvin of Newport News, Va., and Earl Melvin of Key West, Fla; seven daughters, Mrs. Robert Crane, Mrs. Robert Gray, and Mrs. Gussie Burton, all of Matoaka, Mrs. Charles Musser of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Leroy Sutton of Lake City, Fla., Mrs. Leon Meters of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Hubert Price of Pascagoula, Miss; and a brother, Doss Melvin of Matoaka. He was a retired employe of the Virginian Railway Co. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mary Branch Church of God in Matoaka, with Rev. John Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery on the Bluefield-Princetone Road. on October 17, 1967.4

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Crane and wife, Judy with whom she made her home and Bill Crane all of Matoaka; two daughters, Shelby Thornton of Victoria, Va. and Pearl Nesbit and husband, Charles of Matoaka; two brothers, Tracy Melvin and Bill Melvin both of Princeton; one sister, Mary Jane Ridge of Princeton; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Randolph Dishner officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. on May 17, 2002.4

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 1970 at the Matoaka Baptist Church with the Rev. Edgar Sigmon, Rev. J.T. Garrettson, and Rev. Norman Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. on February 16, 1970.2

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home with the Rev. Wallace Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of the Resthaven Memorial Park. Beckett, and her husband, James, of Newport News, and Christina M. DeLancy, and her husband, Matthew, of Marion; one granddaughter, Hailey DeLancy; three sisters, Mary Jane Ridge of Richmond and Delia Gray and Zola Crane, both of Matoaka, W.Va; three brothers, Chester Melvin and Billy Melvin, both of Princeton, W.Va, and twin brother, Tracy Melvin of Matoaka, W.Va; special niece, Shirley Hale of Ohio; and many other nieces and nephews. He also left behind his faithful friend and companion, Major, his dog. Lacy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tommy. Davidson, pastor, Riverside Baptist Church. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. on June 1, 1998.5

After her children became teenagers, she went into nursing and worked until her illness in 1998. Her son, James, 'Jimbo', cared for her for the past 2 1/2 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, James Melvin of Newport News; her daughter, Linda Harrelson, of Newport News; granddaughter, Christina Bandrimer, and her husband, Robert; four great-grandchildren, Hailey, RJ, Olivia, and Noah, all of Wytheville, Va., and her daughter, Cheryl Thompson and her husband, Robert, of Wilmington, N.C. She was 'Mom' to many throughout the years. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, in Peninsula Memorial Park. on March 19, 2010.4
