He attended York High School in Yorktown, Va., and graduated from Kubaski High School in Okinawa, Japan. He also attended the University of Virginia and graduated from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va. He was in trust banking for over 30 years and retired as head trust officer with S.C. Bank and Trust. Mr. Mills was involved in Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions Clubs. He enjoyed golf, basketball, racquetball, handball and coached girl's basketball at Our Lady of Mercy in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford, Va. Surviving are his wife, Sally Scofield Mills of Columbia; three daughters, Audra F. Mills of Williamsburg, Va., Holly R. Mills of Newport News, Va., and Barbara M. Meyer and her husband, Nicholas B. Meyer, of Albuquerque, N.M; two grandchildren, Charles A. 'Cam' Meyer and Christopher Maxwell 'Max' Meyer; his mother and stepfather, Frances and Ray I. Etheridge of Seaford, Va; and three brothers, Ronnie Mills, Robbie Mills and Ivan Etheridge, all of Virginia. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, Building Fund, or to the Cemetery Fund, 2109 Seaford Road, Seaford, VA 23696. on May 2, 2008.1

Ray was a native of Guernsey, WY and was a former resident of Gloucester before moving to the Peninsula in 1982. He retired as a LT. from the US Navy after 25 years. Serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retirement he worked in Naval Mine Engineering at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown and was also a real estate agent. He was a former member and helped to build Apostle Lutheran Church in Gloucester, and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford. Ray is survived by his wife Frances; 3 sons Ivan Etheridge (Shari) of Gloucester, Ronnie Mills (Irene) of Seaford, Robbie Mills (Brenda) of Yorktown; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends Ron and Brenda Pierce and Barbara Zeno. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Mills. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 13, at Zion United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Ronnie was a native and lifelong Seaford resident. He was a 1956 graduate of York High School and attended Randolph Macon College and graduated from of the apprentice school at NASA and retiring as an electrician after 30 years. After his retirement, he was employed with the York County School Division as a school bus driver for many years, and was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church. He was an avid duck hunter, and loved to play golf. He participated in Civil War Competitions with the NSSA (North South Skirmish Association) and was a member of the York Rangers. Ronnie was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Mills; his father Cecil S. Mills; step father Ray Etheridge; and brother Larry Mills. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Irene Mills; his daughters, Rhonda Mills of Newport News, Robin Moore of Seaford, and Julie Thomas of Yorktown and his mother, Margaret Frances Williams Etheridge of Yorktown. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Robbie Mills of Tabb, Otis Mills of Newport News and Ivan Etheridge of Seaford; 6 grandchildren, Charlie, Matthew, Emily, Ashley, James and Mikey; and 4 great grandchildren, Ella, Chip, Madilyn and May. A Celebration of Ronnie's Life will be held at Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on August 20, 2014.9

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Malinda King; brothers, James, Billy, Clifton King; her devoted life partner, Edward Poore; and her dear friend and special teacher, Mrs. Childery. Doris was a retired elementary school teacher from Donahoe Elementary, where she worked for over 45 years. She attended Algoma Mission School in Callaway, Va., then went on to James Madison University. Doris was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, and Beta, now called Beta CID. She was a longtime member of Sandston Presbyterian Church, where she praised for 58 years. Doris was President of the Presbyterian Women and a member of the Presbyterian choir. She loved teaching, singing, history and traveling. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Hilda J. King (Radford); nieces, Julie P. Pitts (James), Rosa Marie Richards; nephew, David W. Radford; greatnephews, Logan, Devin, Aydin, James; grandsons, David and Daniel Poore; extended family, Robert Poore and Sharon Poore; many sorority sisters; special friend, Mrs. Mary Jane Bowlen; as well as numerous extended family and friends. She was loved by all and will be missed greatly. Doris will be laid to rest in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, Va.4 She was buried at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Drive, Sandston, Henrico Co., Virginia.4 She was born on December 10, 1934 at Floyd Co., Virginia.5 She died on March 31, 2020 at Virginia at age 85.4
