Harry Lemuel Dixon Harry L. Dixon, June 11, 1946 – January 10, 2021. Harry Lemmuel Dixon, age 74, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Dixon; and his children, Tammy Alexander (Eric), and Frances Dixon. We are blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from him during his years, among them: 1. Be kind to others and share what you have with them. 2. Do not cry or worry about something if there is nothing you can do about it. 3. Forgive one another by giving them grace, as none of us are perfect. Do not hold grudges. 4. Find a job or career that you enjoy and do it well. He was the best auto body man and mechanic. There are many businessmen from Fredericksburg to Fairfax that will only allow Harry to work on their cars. 5. Do what you love to do and do it as much as you can. He went boating and fishing whenever he could and as often as he could. Many times, he took others boating and fishing with him in his John Boat. He taught so many of us how to crab and fish and showed us all the best fishing spots in the Rappahannock River. He fixed the best fried fish with fried potatoes and shared buckets of fish with others. That man loved to fish! Harry leaves behind his three grandchildren, Gabrielle “Gabby” Dixon, Maranda Dixon, and Jonathan Alexander; and many nieces and nephews. Nothing lit up Harry’s face like one of the grandchildren. He loved you 3 so much and he was so very proud of all 3 of you! He saw Gabby graduate high school and he was so determined to see Maranda and Jonathan graduate from high school. However, he will be watching graduation from Heaven with a huge smile on his face. He is survived by his brother, Chuck Dixon. He is preceded in death by his son Jeffery James Dixon; his father, Harry Jellison Dixon; his mother, Edna Arrington; his sister, Debbie Sheets; his brother Mike Dixon; and his sister Jenny Dixon. Harry had Lung Cancer, Prostate Cancer, and a Brain Tumor. He has been fighting cancer for about 15 years. His cancer was in remission for many years. However, it came back about a year ago. He tried to go through treatments, but once the cancer got in his bones, it was so painful. He was always so strong and brave. Harry’s wife, Betty, daughter, Tammy, and best friends (like family), Jennifer and Ralph were with him throughout the six months of home hospice. During the time, he enjoyed the visits from his daughter Frances, his son-in law Eric and his three beautiful grandchildren. The family would like to thank our family, close friends, and our church family for all the extra prayers, phone calls, cards, and visits, while he has been in home hospice. An extra special thank-you to Mary Washington Hospice…the nurses, nurse aides, Social Workers, Hospice Equipment guys and so many others, were all such a blessing to Harry and his family. MW Hospice workers went above and beyond to make sure our Harry / our Dad / our Grandfather, was treated with dignity and respect. They helped us take such excellent care of him. They made sure he was safe and comfortable. Harry was able to die peacefully in his own home where he lived for about 50 years, which is a blessing. His wife, Betty, his daughter, Tammy, and his best friend, Ralph were able to be by his side when he took his last two breathes. We immediately knew he was in Heaven. His Son, his Parents and his siblings and other friends and family that passed on before him, were there waiting in line to hug him and welcome him. His graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg, VA.4 He was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Four Mile Fork, Spotsylvania Co., Virginia.4 He was born on June 11, 1946 at Alexandria, Virginia.2,3,4 He married Betty Jean Gilbert, daughter of David Earl Gilbert Sr. and Mildred Phelps, on October 26, 1968 at Franconia, Fairfax Co., Virginia.1,2 Harry Lemuel Dixon died on January 10, 2021 at Virginia at age 74.4
