Savoy died on June 4, 2022 at Louisiana at age 82.3 She Elaine Savoy Thompson, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 4, 2022 at age 82. Elaine was born to Ena and Edward Savoy in Eunice, La. on June 3, 1940. After graduating Marion High School in 1959, she married the love of her life Jo John Thompson. Together, they raised a loving family in LeBleu Settlement; after Hurricane Rita, Jo and Elaine moved to Iowa, La. where they showed the world what retirement should look like! Jo and Elaine devoted much of their retirement to various volunteer activities. Elaine was the treasurer of the Iowa Lions’ Club, held several offices, including President of the Iowa AARP, and served as a board member of the Calcasieu Council on Aging and Iowa Housing Authority. They volunteered at Iowa and Bell City High Schools and LeBleu Settlement Elementary. In addition to rearing her family, Elaine was a bookkeeper for Louis’ Florist, The Lake Charles American Press, and Appliance Parts. She was also a Notary Public for many years. Elaine cherished her church family at First United Methodist Church, Iowa, La., where she was a United Methodist Church, Iowa, La., where she was a member of UMW and the Iowa Methodist Quilter’s Club. She was a member of the Diamond Dancers of Moss Bluff and CFMA Dance Troupe and was an LSU Master Gardener. Elaine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, her parents, an infant brother, and sister-in-law, Marie Savoy. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa (Maurice) Marceaux of LeBleu Settlement, Jodi (Dana) Rushing of Watson, La., and Bill (Paula) Thompson of Woodlawn; grandchildren, Ben (Jody) and Brant (Kalie) Marceaux, Sammi (Clay) Parker, Victor (Madeline) Rushing, and Annabelle and Mia Thompson; and great-grandson, Kale Marceaux. Also, her brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Joy), David, and Donald (Elaine) Savoy, numerous nieces, nephews, and god-children. Burial at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. on June 6, 2022.3
