     Martha Ellen Canode Martha Ellen Elmore, 100, of Blue Ridge, Va., was called home to be with her beloved Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 7, 2019. She was born on February 15, 1919, in West Virginia. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Elmore and two great granddaughters, Amanda Henderson and Kristin Atkinson. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Robertson Booth and husband, Barrie, of Daleville, Va., and Brenda Switzer and husband, Richard, of Troutville, Va; grandchildren, David Robertson and wife, Kathy, of Clemmons, N.C., Jason Switzer and wife, Melinda, of Trouville, Va., and Alicia Lovern and husband, Christian, of Daleville, Va; great-grandchildren, Maranda and Samantha Switzer, Tanner and Blake Lovern; great-great-grandchildren, Bailey Atkinson and Connor Johnson, all whom she dearly loved; special friend, Mary Ellen Hutchison of Blacksburg, Va; special neighbors, Pam and Willie Wingo; and many friends from Blue Ridge, Va. Martha spent many years working at the Radford Arsenal Plant along with two sewing factories. She loved her family and decided to stay home and keep her grandchildren for the remainder of her career. Martha enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, quilting and preparing wonderful meals for her family. Her grandchildren share so many beautiful memories of her and their grandfather that will be cherished forever. A Funeral Service will be conducted at noon on Friday, December 13, 2019, at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Scott McLucas officiating. Interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.3 She was buried at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, 7271 Cloverdale Road, Cloverdale, Botetourt Co., Virginia.3 She was born on February 15, 1919 at West Virginia.3 As of circa 1940,her married name was Elmore.3 She married James Russell Elmore, son of Lavester Cleophus "Vester" Elmore and Sarah Ellen Simpkins, circa 1940.3 Martha Ellen Canode died on December 7, 2019 at Botetourt Co., Virginia, at age 100.3

     John Michael St. Clair John "Michael" St.Clair, 77, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. He was born on November 8, 1944, to his lucky parents, Margaret Arlene Elmore St.Clair and John Smiley St.Clair in Craig Springs, Va. His parents preceded him in death. John spent most of his early years in Newport, Va., and attended Newport Grade and High School until 1962. In January of 1962, he was a student at the New Giles High School until his graduation in June of 1963. John attended VPI for three years, and then enlisted in the United States Army in 1966. He served a total of 24 years which included the U.S. Army Reserves and the Virginia National Guard. John's military service included Nike-Hercules Guided Missile Technician, Drill Sergeant, Chemical Operation Specialist, and Infantry Senior Instructor. He was employed by General Electric, ITT, the VA Medical Center, and the United States Postal Service. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, hunting, shooting, fishing, and working on cars. In December of 1968, John met and married his lifelong wife, Assunte Tessari in Roncà, Italy. They were married for 53 years. Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Assunta St.Clair; son, Richard St.Clair; brothers and sisters, Patrick St.Clair and wife, Mona St.Clair, Mary Bishop and husband, Kenny Bishop, and Rebecca St.Clair and husband, Charles Ware; beloved niece and nephews, Carrie Magill (Merin) and their children, Memphis, Emilee-Anne, Abigail, and Elliott, Kevin Bishop (Rilka), Gavin St.Clair, and John Ware.4 He was born on November 8, 1944 at Craig Co., Virginia.3,4 He married Assunte Tessari in December, 1968 at Roncà, Italy.4 John Michael St. Clair died on December 28, 2021 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 77.4
