Eugene was a graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1950. He entered the U.S. Army Medical Corp in 1951. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Hospital in Northern Sendai Honshu and later reassigned to the U.S. Army Hospital in Fulduoka-Hakata in southern Japan. He was discharged in 1954, as a Sergeant in the U.S. Medical Corp. He began working at Petaluma Mortuary Chapel, then A. W. Parent Funeral Home. He later reenlisted in the Army and trained as a Surgical Nurse and Psychiatric aide assigned to Lompoc U.S. Disciplinary Barracks Maximum Security Prison. Eugene went on to marry Barbara Ann Beatty and they had twins, Jason Brian and Jacqueline Beth. They later moved to Livermore, California after he was discharged from the army. Eugene has resided in McKinleyville for the past several years. He always flew the American flag as a proud member of the American Legion Post #0585. He enjoyed sport fishing in the ocean. He loved Clam Beach, and the South and North Jetties, where he spent a year alone with his beloved dogs, Savoya and Seagrams, Blackie and Blueboy. Eugene is survived by his son, Jason Harrison (Karen) and his daughter, Jackie Diaz (Albert), as well as 4 grandchildren: Amanda and Kathleen Harrison, and Albert and Andrew Diaz. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Harrison, and his mother, Louise Harrison. He will be buried at Sky Lawn Memorial Park, in the Veterans' Section, on top of the hill looking over most of San Mateo County, Belmont, California. on July 25, 2009.4

Beatty, 72, of 608 Walnut St., Latrobe, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1975, at her home. Born May 30, 1903, in Marienville, she was a daughter of the late August and Bertha Tiescher Stromquist. She was married in 1925 to James R. Beatty, who survives. Mrs. Beatty was a 1923 graduate of Clarion State Normal School, now Clarion State College. She was a grade school teacher who taught in Latrobe District Schools and Homes that Schools. She was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, was past president of the Civic Club, and past president of the Sara Carr Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Priscilla Jane) Douglas of Richmond Heights, Ohio; one son, Cmdr. James R. Beatty, III, U. S. N. of San Diego, Calif; five grandchildren, and one sister, Lenore B. Stromquist of Marienville. Services were held at 10 a.m., Nov. 20, from the M. S. Hartman Funeral Home in Latrobe with the Rev. Robert R. Vogelsang officiating. Burial was in Clarion cemetery. on December 9, 1975.1
