Owens, 59, 7644 Appleton Road, died at 11:10 p.m. Monday St. Anthony Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Chariton, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Catherine Bucknell Owens. He married Ruth Rogers Aug. 15, 1952, in Rockford. Mr. Owens lived in Belvidere since 1952, previously in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was employed by Chas. Ind. Co. for 20 years, and then Rockford Blacktop up to one year before his death as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and a life-time member of the Moose Lodge No. 295, Belvidere; VFW John Hugo Kaiser Post, No. 1461, and International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 150. He went to the public schools of Beacon and Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, one son, Sanford, Oskaloosa, and one stepson, Richard LeClere, Belvidere; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Herrick, Oskaloosa; Mrs. Rhoda Perry, Monroe, Iowa, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Maxine Wendell, Belvidere, and Mrs. Marge Schultz, Belvidere; two brothers Rendel Owens, Oskaloosa, and Lester Owens, Des Moines, and one step brother, Thomas Corporon, Niobrara, Neb; two sisters, Mrs. Lorena Allgood, Oskaloosa and Mrs. Margaret Willison, West Covins, Calif., and one step-sister, Mrs. Albert Davis, Grinnell, Iowa. Mr. Owns was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held at the Witbeck-Wheeler-Sabien Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. George T. Ballein, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Belvidere, officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. on December 3, 1975.6
