Dennis Edward "Denny" Weems Dennis (Denny) Weems, age 66, passed away on Monday, February 25th, 2019 at his home in Melrose, Iowa. He was born in Des Moines to Lloyd and Dorothy (Thomas) Weems. Denny worked for John Deere before moving back home to Des Moines to help care for his parents until their passing. He was a free spirit who lived life the way he wanted to. He loved feeling the wind in his hair, whether he was on the water, fishing in his boat or going for a ride on his Harley. He loved trying new things and experiences. In fact, he was a talented cook, with a passion for bbq, who enjoyed experimenting with traditional dishes to make them unique (and in his opinion- better). Most of all, he was fiercely protective of his family and friends. Denny had a big personality that was hard to ignore and he will be missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Terry) Elvrom and Carrie Weems; grandchildren, Paige, Lydia, Thomas and Cooper; brother, Richard (Cindy) Weems; nephew, Jason (Ashley) Weems; great niece, Kinsley, as well as several other extended family members.2 He was born on May 12, 1952 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.1 He died on May 25, 2019 at Melrose, Monroe Co., Iowa, at age 67.2
