Survivors include his wife Patty Bartels; son Terry Bartels and wife Tena of Mattoon; grandchildren Tara DeBerry of Savoy, Travis Bartels and wife Jaime of Okinawa, Japan and Tricia Sigler and husband Jay of Lakemore, Il; great grandchildren Jaden and Tayla DeBerry, Gunner Bartels, and Evan Sigler. Clarence was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a WWII veteran earning a Purple Heart during his service in the Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland Campaigns. He was the owner and operator of the Mattoon Whisk Broom company. Clarence enjoyed working in his lawn and garden and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
