Talbert was born May 30, 1936 to Talbert and Helen Dick in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. Attended College at William and Mary in Virginia, where he met his future wife Carol Ann Monish. After college and serving as a pilot in the air force Talbert was self employed as a patent consultant in Arlington Virginia. Talbert moved back to Iowa to take care of his ailing parents which he did faithfully until their passing. He was an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed trapshoaling and riding his 1950 Harley and going to Masonic Lodges with his son David. Talbert was a fifty year, 32nd degree mason who attended lodge in Iowa, OK, and TX. He was a past master at marble lodge #368 in Carlisle and Hartford Lodge #83, as well as being a shriner and a member of the odd fellows in Indianola. Talbert is survived by his son David who he always referred to as his "beloved son" and family and lots of friends. There will be no graveside services. Memorial contributions can be made to Talbans favorite charity, The shriners hospital for crippled children. Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle is in charge of arrangements. on November 12, 2008.3

Lacey, son of Daniel and Parmelia Lacey was born August 26, 1871 in Clay county (sic), Kansas, and passed away early Monday morning, July 30, at the Superior hospital. He had attained the age of 73 years, 11 months and 3 days. Mr. Lacey was afflicted for nearly two years, being a patient sufferer, and was most tenderly cared for in the home by his companion and children. During his youth he traveled extensively with his parents, going by team and covered wagon, and visited many places and numerous states. In 1896 the amily (sic) came here and located permafnently (sic). On October 6, 1898 Mr. Lacey was married to Miss Crete Young. Fourteen children were born to this union. One son and a daughter died in inancy (sic), and Vern at the age of 13. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Crete, and eleven children: Ray and Guy of Nelson, Ruth Hansen of Beaver Crossing, Jay and Lyle in Utah, Burdette of Lincoln, Eugent (sic) and Jack who are overseas, Patty Bartels, Oak, Bonnie Rasplicka, Tobias, and Anabelle Staritz of Fallbrook, California. Also surviving are 17 grand children and 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Will of Beaver Crossing, John of Norfolk, and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Reeves of San Jose, Calif; 6 daughters-in-law, and 4 sons-in-law. Numerous other relative and friends will miss him greatly. A kind, dear one, from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place so vacant, in our home, Which never can be filled. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the M.E. church (sic) with Rev. V.R. Daniels of Harvard in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Wilbur Portwood of Nelson, Mrs. J.L. Scroggin, James Hansen and Earl Kincannon; Mrs. Harry Moore at the piano. Pallbearers were: Gene and Ralph Follmet (sic), Claus Shipley, Jack Montgomery, Art Lomax and Emil Klawitter of Nelson. Interment was made in Oak Grove cemetery (sic). on August 9, 1945.1

     Vern Lemuel Lacey was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.5,2 He was born on April 19, 1907 at Oak, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska.2 He died on August 12, 1920 at Oak, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska, at age 13.2 He After a prolonged sickness of several weeks, Vern Lemuel Lacey, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Lacey of Oak, succombed (sic) to an attack of typhoid fever. Until a few days before his death, strong hopes were entertained for his recovery. Vern was well known to the people of Oak, having been born and reared in that community. He was born April 19, 1907, and died Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, August 12, 1920, making this life's short pilgrimage 13 years, 4 months and 3 days. He was a member of the M.E. Sunday school and we shall ever think of him as being enrolled with that great number that gather around the throne of God for praise and worship. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his parents, an aged grandmother, Mrs. Young; one sister Ruth and seven brothers: Ray, Guy, Jay, Lyle, Burdette (sic), Eugene and Jack, besides other relatives, friends and his play fellows of Oak community. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock, at the home, conducted by Pastor A.C. Bates. His boyhood chums acted as pall bearers and escorted his remains to the Oak cemetery (sic) for burial. on August 19, 1920.2

Mr. Lacey is survived by his wife, Coral; 5 children; 11 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Ray, Burdett, Eugene and Jack; 4 sisters, Anna Belle Lacey, Bonnie Cercile, Ruth Hansen and Patty Bartells. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers. on January 7, 1971.2

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Coalville. Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to the services. Burial will be in the Peterson Cemetery. on January 23, 1968.4
