Yvonne Wimmer, 67, of Roanoke, died Saturday, December 10, 2016. Yvonne was born in Roanoke and lived in the area all her life. She was the daughter of late Joseph R. Wimmer Sr. and Doris M. Oyler Wimmer who survives. Yvonne was an elementary school teacher, teaching at Cave Spring Elementary School for many years and enjoyed reading. In addition to her father, Yvonne was preceded in death by two infant sisters. She is survived by her mother, Doris; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph R. Jr. and Sue Wimmer of Knightsdale, North Carolina; sister, Judith Anne Wimmer of Rocky Mount; and extended family. A celebration of Yvonne's life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke with Pastor Melvin Harris officiating. A private burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice. on December 12, 2016.1
