Surviving are wife, Kathleen; son, Richie Strickland and his wife, Kay, of Elkview; grandsons, Kevin of Buckhannon and Kyle of Walton; great-grandchildren, Tabatha, Samantha and Ethan; sister, Hazel Dodd of Clendenin; and half-brother, Ronnie Strickland of Clendenin. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Myers Funeral Home Chapel, Elkview, with the Rev. Rick Sams officiating. Burial will follow in the Koontz Cemetery, Clendenin. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a. m. Friday at the Wellford Methodist church with Rev. Early Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the Koontz cemetery at Clendenin. The James R. Cox post No. 61 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services. on September 1, 1949.³
