He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Trudy, and children Rhonda, Dana, Mike, Rocky, Denise, Mark, and Sherry, as well as many subsequent generations, all of whom loved him dearly. Jack found joy in his family, square dancing, and key chain collecting, along with crafting and donating toys to children's hospitals and organizations with other members of the S.D. Fine Woodworkers Assn. He also served the club yearly at the S.D. County Fair, "Design in Wood" Exhibit, welcoming visitors and answering questions. Services will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Heartland Masonic Lodge at 695 Ballantyne Street, El Cajon. on July 5, 2009.3

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen David Vest, Sr. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Bernice W. and Virginia J. Vest, Salem; Allen David and Susie A. Vest, Floyd; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Allen D., III and Ellen Vest, Floyd; Joseph Allen Vest, Salem; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Peggy V. and Robert Mentel, Chalmette, La; Yvonne V. and Fred Thayer, Radford; two great-granddaughters, Marcee Caryn Vest, Floyd; Julie Ann Thayer, Radford; one sister, Mrs. Wilson (Ethel) Thomas, Floyd; several nieces and nephews also survive. Interment will be in Harvestwood Cemetery, Floyd. on September 19, 1987.7
