     Charles Luther Rowles Charles Luther Rowles died January 4th, 2019, one month shy of his 56th birthday, in Los Angeles, California, surrounded by his loving wife, sister, children and family. He was born in Ewa Beach, Hawaii on February 4th, 1963. After graduating from Napa High, he followed in his father’s footsteps and served 6 years in the US Navy as a nuclear electrician aboard the submarine, the USS Pargo. He went on to become a high voltage electrician and retired a master electrician as a supervisor for the City of San Francisco. He married Mary Regina Muth on December 21st, 1982 and their love for each other was apparent to everyone around them. Together they were blessed with 10 children, 7 of which are married, with 14 grandchildren and one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Master Chief Petty Officer Edward Benton and Patricia Ann Rowles, and is survived by his sister, Sally Brabant, wife, Mary Rowles, 10 children and 14 grandchildren.3 He was born on February 4, 1963 at Ewa Beach, Honolulu Co., Hawaii.3 He married Mary Regina Muth on December 21, 1982 at Napa Co., California.2,3 Charles Luther Rowles died on January 4, 2019 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at age 55.3

Carlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Carlene is survived by six children, Berdene Heck and friend, Wilbur Miller of Osage, Janice Riker of New Haven, Leanna Miller of Osage, Lowell (Kathy) Wigant of Osage, Maxine (Ed) Sholly of Osage and Melvin (Rebecca) Wigant of Charles City; 24 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Maggie Reed of Clear Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Wigant; son and daughter-in-law, Maylon and Cindy Wigant; sons-in-law, John Heck, James Riker and Chris Miller; grandson, John Bierbrodt; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Samuel Riker; and two brothers, Delmar and Merlyn Reed. Funeral arrangements were made by the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.

He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Osage, to Aubrey and Doris Marquet Reed. He married E. Jean Collins June 7, 1951 at Osage. He attended St. Ambrose College, and received a bachelor of science degree in physical education in 1957 and a masters degree in 1963 from the University of Iowa. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Iowa City Teachers Association, National Education Association, Football Coaches Association and Wrestling Coaches Association. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael, Charles, Tom and Steven; one daughter, Ann: his mother; all of Iowa City; a brother, Robert, of Webster City; and one sister, Mrs. Stan (Wilma) Larson, of Phoenix. Ariz. His father, one son and a sister preceded him in death. on September 4, 1975.6

While still a baby, Marian moved with her parents to Pleasantville, Iowa, where she lived until they returned to Osage in the fall of 1940. When she was four years old she developed a weak heart and has been an invalid since. She was not able to attend school. For the past three months she has been confined to her bed most of the time, although recently she seemed to be improving. Death came quite suddenly while she was at play last Wednesday morning. She is survived by her parents; one sister, Wilma Mae; one brother, Kenneth Lee; and her grandfather, Joseph Reed. Funeral services will be held at the Champion Funeral Home on Friday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Stiles Lessly, with burial in the Osage cemetery. on March 25, 1943.5
