She was born in 1921 in Altoona, Pa. After graduating from Altoona High School in 1939,Janeth attended Zeth Business School.Before graduation from Zeth, she was offered a position as Secretary to the Head of Pennsylvania Insurance Company in Harrisburg, Pa., which she declined, instead becoming Secretary to the City Controller, Altoona City Hall. Janeth met her husband, Beuford, through her parents, Helen Gertrude and Owen James, who thought it would be a great idea to introduce their daughter to the charming Army military policeman that they had met on a train trip. Janeth and Beuford wed in November 1948 and made their home and raised their two daughters in Roanoke. Janeth handled the business end of her husband's home building and rental business and excelled in her hobby of collecting antiques creating a lovely home. When left with an empty nest around 1977 as the girls went off to college, Janeth began volunteering at TRUST providing para-professional social services to clients.Her volunteer experience with TRUST served as an entr‚e to working for Roanoke's EOS office of emergency services from 1980 to 1988 where she was employed as a substitute case worker for the full-time emergency workers. Janeth was predeceased by parents, Owen James and Helen Gertrude Weakland; brother, Richard Weakland; and husband, Beuford, who died in November 2011. Janeth is survived by daughter, Amy Webb Elliott and her husband, Ed, and daughter Ann Webb Stretch; granddaughter, Allison Rose Elliott and grandsons, Isaac Charles Elliott, James Owen Stretch and Charles Clinton Stretch Jr; niece, Jane Blick and husband, Michael, of Schofield, Wis. No prior calling A Memorial Service celebrating Janeth's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Unity Church of Roanoke Valley, 3300 Green Ridge Road, Roanoke on September 28, 2014.2
