Survivors include her husband, Cullen Dillard Lawrence of Galax; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Stephen and Cynthia Lawrence and David Cullen and Cindy Lawrence, all of Roanoke; son and fiancée, Timothy Scott Lawrence and Stephanie Suess of Clear Brook; four grandchildren; sister, Rubye Hawks Byrd of Galax; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. James Cowley and the Rev. Sidney Beamer officiating. Burial followed in the Crooked Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Building fund or the American Cancer Society. A guestbook is available online at www.vaughanguynn.com. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. on November 12, 2010.1

Survivors include two sons, Lee Davis of Hinton and Lawrence Davis of Huntington; four daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gay of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Geneva Bragg of Hinton, Mrs. Margaret Whitley of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Blanche of Huntington; 11 grandchidren; two brothers, Kyle Davis of Hinton and Marvin Davis of Covington, Va., and on sister, Mrs. Lucy Davis of Hinton. on January 20, 1958.5

Born Feb. 10, 1896, she was a daughter of the late John W. and India Frazier Moten. A lifelong resident of Summers County, she was a member of the Hinton Methodist Church and the JOY Class of the church. Survivors include her husband, Kyle M. Davis; a son, Curtis of Hinton; two daughters, Mrs. R. F. Phillips of Beckley and Mrs. E. L. Lipscomb of Hinton; five sisters, Miss Maude Moten, Mrs. Lura Williams, and Mrs. Ona Ratliff, all of Hinton, Mrs. Ethel Settle of Maplewood, and Mrs. Grace Ryan of Talcott; one grandchild; and one greatgrandchild. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Hinton Methodist church with the Rev. I. E. Cregger in charge. Burial will be in the family cemetery near Hinton. The body will be taken from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors to the home today and to the church one hour prior to service. on January 19, 1961.2

S. C. Ballard of the state police reported. Elton Lilly, 19, of Hinton and Williams both suffered minor injuries, Ballard said. Ballard explained that Williams was arraigned before Magistrate Kirk Heatwole and after he waived a preliminary hearing was ordered held for grand jury action under $2000 bond. The state trooper did not explain how the accident occurred, but said that the truck "apparently overturned" and was on its wheels when he discovered it. on August 5, 1942.6

She worked many years as a bookkeeper at H&N Ford. Zonita enjoyed flower gardening, watercolor painting, working puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger M. Deeds; second husband, Philip "Spanky" Lipscomb and one son, Ty Wayne Deeds. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Rogena K. Davidson and husband Randy of Athens, GA and Teresa J. Spicer of Hinton; daughter in law, Jan Deeds of Lynchburg, VA; stepson, Gary Steve Lipscomb and wife Ann of Hinton; stepdaughter, Michele R.      Bertha Loretta Boggs was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.1 She was born on March 23, 1942 at Cabin Creek, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1 As of September 3, 1961,her married name was DeWese.2 She married Douglas Eugene "Doug" DeWese, son of Clyde Tocoma DeWese and Elmira F. "Ella" "Nell" Lester, on September 3, 1961 at Ikes Fork, Wyoming Co., West Virginia.1,2 Bertha Loretta Boggs died on April 9, 2007 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 65.1 She On Monday, April 9, 2007, Loretta Boggs Dewese of Old Eccles Road, Beckley, passed away in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. She was 65 years of age. Loretta was born March 23, 1942, at Cabin Creek; she was one of six children born to the late Virgil and Goldie Lee Hammond Boggs. Loretta spent her childhood at Milton. She was of the Baptist faith. A longtime resident of Wyoming County, she had resided in Hanover and Ikes Fork, where she helped run the family business, Dewese Market. After the death of her beloved husband, Douglas Dewese, Loretta settled on Old Eccles Road in 1997. She relished in her role as a devoted mother, grandmother and sister to her family. Her family and friends will cherish her memory forever. In addition to her parents and Douglas, she was recently preceded in death by a dear and loving friend, Cecil Cline. Loretta was the beloved mother of two sons and a daughter, Shawn Dewese and his wife, Lois, of Beckley, Melissa Wilson and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Christopher Dewese and his wife, Tatia, of Teays Valley; the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren, Branson and Carson Dewese of Beckley, Ellie and Elizabeth Wilson of Charlotte, Dru Stanley, Peyton and Max Dewese, all of Teays Valley; the dear sister of David Boggs and Faye Childress of Milton, Dorothy Compton and Carolyn McGhee of Charleston, and Hattie Mynes of Winfield; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Carolyn Francis, Betsy Britland, Libby Kelly, Dr. Oar, and Dr. Pitsenbarger, Dr. Nazar and the second-floor staff of Raleigh General Hospital for all their kindness and compassion. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Garry Hall officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary and one hour before service Friday. Pallbearers will be Bill McGhee, Steve Dewese, Charlie and O.G. Cline, Steve ?Beetle? Bailey, Dean Lee, J.R. Hanshaw, Jim Legato, Bill Meadows and Rob Hogan. on April 12, 2007.1
