Shires Jr., a student of the University of Tennessee at Martin; five brothers, William A. Shires of Greenville, N. C, C. B. Shires, Memphis, David M. Shires, Bowling Green, Ky., John R. Shires, Jackson, Robert L. Shires, Jackson; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Jackson, Raleigh, N. C., Mrs. Harriet Presson, Jackson, Mrs. Martha Ann Alewine, Dallas, Tex. Pallbearers to serve are members of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity from the University of Tennessee at Martin. on January 17, 1971.5

He is survived by his step-mother, Nancy Shires of Greenville; brother, Kenneth (Terri) of Hillsborough; sister, Beth Knight (Bill) of Allen, TX; nephew, Brandon Knight; nieces, Sarah Holmes (Chris) and Jessica Bunn (Eric); and his longtime love, Elizabeth Huber. on September 13, 2019.3
