She had been a resident of the Belle Hoffman Michael Home for the past two years. She was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Naomi Circle of the church, American Legion Auxiliary 181, the 37th division Auxiliary, the Veterans of World War I Barracks 177, the DAV Auxiliary and the Bucyrus Eastern Star 3. Survivors include a son, Robert of Bucyrus; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Betty) Ricker of Gaffney, S.C; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home by the Rev. John E. Kerr. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. on September 20, 1981.3

Ricker and wife Lauren who is currently coaching at Western Michigan University of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Evan Ricker and his wife Heather of Troy, Ohio; Betty has one great-grandson, Colton Thomas Ricker who is the son of Aaron and Patrice Ricker. She is also preceded in Death by a son Jerry Ricker; and two brothers, William and Robert Slater. Betty Ricker's Life was fulfilled by: graduating from Chatfield High School in 1943, getting married in Chatfield, Ohio in 1946 and raising two sons while volunteering in numerous school and church activities. In 1970 her husband and her moved to Gaffney, South Carolina, and in 1984 made a final move to Texas, where they attended and participated in various grandchild activities. Betty was 60 year plus Eastern Star member of the Nevada/Bucyrus chapters. Betty and her husband were former members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Bucyrus, Ohio. on December 1, 2012.4

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarion, the Clarion County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Clarion Women’s Benefit Association, the Clarion Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star and the Joppa White Shrine of New Bethlehem. She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. E. V. (Margaret) McNutt of Clarion, Mrs. Walter (Louise) Smith of Clarion, Mrs. Wayne (Katherine) Shoup of New Brighton and one son, Frank Zilhaver of Clarion. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Removal was to the J. Ward Kier Funeral Home in Clarion where friends may call after 7 p.m. tonight and where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. In charge of the services will be the Rev. Howard C. Blanchard of the First Baptist Church of Clarion. Burial will be in the Clarion Cemetery. on March 13, 1964.4

She was born in Clarion, the daughter of Frank P. and Margaret Phillips, both of whom survive, and had spent her entire life there. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist church of Clarion and of the Clarion county chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving besides her parents are: two sisters, Mrs. Kate P. Zilhaver and Edna Phillips, a brother, John D. [V.] Phillips, six nieces and one nephew, all of Clarion. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church, Clarion 3:00 o’clock Monday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. C. C. Rich in charge and interment was made in the Clarion cemetery.5 She was born on May 19, 1888 at Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,4 She died on April 13, 1934 at Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 45.4,5

He had been residing with his daughter Miss Ruth Phillips at 930 Elk St. Franklin. Mr. Phillips was born in Clarion on Dec. 20, 1892, the son of the late Frank P. and Margaret Slater Phillips. On Aug. 15, 1911, he was married to the former Erda Crawford who preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 1962. For a number of years prior to establishing the Phillips Greenhouses, now identified as Phillips Flowers here, Mr. Phillips was associated in the food market business with his father, where now is operated Gichrings Market. Mr. Phillips spent practically his entire life in Clarion with exception of the years since he has retired when his winters were spent in Florida. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Clarion; served as Clarion borough tax collector and served as a member of Clarion borough council and an honorary member of the Clarion Volunteer Fire Company. Fraternally, Mr. Phillips was a member of the Clarion Lodge of Masons and the Coudersport Consistory of Coudersport. He is survived by these children: Mrs. Howard (Sara) Smith of Mayport RD; Mrs. Herbert L. (Ruth) [Florence] Kifer of Clarion; Miss Ruth Phillips of Franklin and Jack Phillips of Buffalo, N. Y. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Kate P. Zilhaver of Clarion and seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The body is at Goble Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held from Goble Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Howard C. Blanchard, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Clarion Cemetery. on April 19, 1963.5

She was the daughter of Joseph and Henrietta Breniman Crawford, born in Washington June 21, 1892. She was a graduate of the Clarion Normal School. Erda married John V. Phillips August 15, 1911. They established Phillips Greenhouse in Clarion and retired to Florida from that enterprise. Following Erda's ill health, the couple returned to live in Franklin, PA. She was a member of the Clarion Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Joppa Shrine and the DAR. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Ruth Phillips, Sara Smith and her husband, Howard, of Mayport and Florence Kifer and her husband, Herbert L., of Clarion; a son, Jack Phillips of Buffalo, N.Y; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Goble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Clarion Cemetery. on January 2, 1963.3

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kifer was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Smith and Ruth Phillips. Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Clarion Cemetery. on February 16, 2001.2

"Nannie" Slater, daughter of James Slater and Sarah Jane Whitehill, on November 9, 1886 at Curllsville, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,3,2 John A. Fleming died on March 9, 1927 at Monroe Township, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 70.3,2 He One of the best known citizens of western Clarion County, John A. Fleming, died at his home in Monroe, Beaver Township, Wednesday, March 9, 1927, of a complication of diseases. Mr. Fleming was a son of David and Eliza Fleming, and was born November 5, 1857, at Reidsburg, where he lived for forty-five years, moving then to Beaver township, in which he has resided ever since. He was married Nov. 19, 1886, at Curllsville, to Nancy H. Slater, who survives him with the following children: Calvin, St. Petersburg; Frank, James and Mrs. Colonel Hunsberger, Lamartine; George, Pittsburgh; Margaret, Karns City; Josephine, Emma, Floyd and, Wilber at home. He is also survived by three sisters, but was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. The deceased was a farmer all of his active life, and was a progressive and enterprising citizen and was highly respected by all who knew him. His funeral was held Saturday, March 12th, at his late home in Monroe, the services being conducted by Rev. Gilbert of Emlenton, assisted by Rev. I. G. Snyder. The interment was made in Union Cemetery, Knox. on March 17, 1927.2

Fleming, 79, of Knox RD1 died at 6 a.m. Sunday in his home following an extended illness. Born in Monroe Township, December 5, 1889, he was the son of John A. and Nancy Slater Fleming. Mr. Fleming, who had lived in the Knox area since 1901, was a farmer and oil producer and was active in farming until his illness in 1965. He was a member of the United Church of Christ at Monroe and had in earlier years served as a deacon in the church. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Colonel (Lillian) Hunsberger, Emlenton RD1; Miss Georgia Fleming, Sewickley; Mrs. Paul (Josephine) Rush, Sligo RD2, Frank R., James M., Willard and Margaret Fleming, all of Knox RD1; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. One sister, Anna, and a brother, Calvin, preceded him in death. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today in the William N. Rupert Funeral Home in Knox, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. William A. Boyer, pastor of the United Church of Christ of Monroe, will officiate. Interment will follow in Knox Union Cemetery. on January 20, 1969.6

He previously resided in Knox RD 1 on a farm which he and his brother, James, operated and had just recently moved to Franklin. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church of West Home in Emlenton RD 1. Surviving in addition to his wife, Genevieve, are one daughter, Mrs. William (Lucille) Dailey of Santa Ana, California; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; and two brothers, James and Wilbur Fleming of Knox RD 1. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Colonel (Lily May) Hunsberger of Emlenton RD 1, Miss Georgia Fleming of Knox RD 1, and Mrs. Paul (Josephine) Rush of Sligo RD; and several nieces and nephews. One son, John B. Fleming, died March 13, 1962, and step-daughter, Mrs. Oliver (Sarah) Conway, died January 21, 1968. He was also preceded in death by a step-grandson, Richard Conway; two brothers, Floyd and Calvin Fleming; and two sisters, Anna and Margaret. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the William N.
