Last January he attempted to drive through the big snow drifts from Leeper to his home and was thrown out of his sleigh several times, and although of a robust constitution the exposure at that time undermined his constitution and he was ailing from that time until his death at 4:30 o'clock on Wednesday morning, November 26. On January 6, 1852 he was married to Miss Mary Foreman, and 11 children were born to them, of whom the following survive: W. S. Whitehill, Bells Landing, Pa; F. R.      Robert Whitehill Robert Whitehill, one of the oldest citizens of Edenburg Bourough, died suddenly at his home in that place on Sunday morning November 9, 1939. He has suffered an attack of pleurisy sometime before but was apparently recovered from the attack and was around home as usual. He had gotten up on Sunday morning and eaten his breakfast and then went upstairs for some purpose. When he failed to come back downstairs one of the family went up and found him slumped over in a faint. He rallied from this but it seemed his heart had run its course and in about an hour he died. Robert Whitehill was born at Helen Furnace, this county, March 17, 1842 and was aged over 88 years at his death. He lived in Reidsburg for a time but moved to Edenburg in 1874. He was a waggon maker by trade and followed that trade throughout his life, only retiring when aged compelled him. When the United States called for volunteers to defend the Union in 1861, Mr. Whitehill stepped forward. He was wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg and captured and sent to Libby Prison at Richmond. He was honourably discharged in 1865. On October 25, 1870, he was united in marriage with Margarette Lyon. His wife died in 1924. Mr. Whitehill is survived by the following children: Mrs. Alice Watkins, New York City; W. C. Whitehill, Oil City, and Mrs. Mary Weible and C. E. Whitehill of Knox. He is also survived by one brother and one sister, James Whitehill and Mrs. Nannie McCleary of Oil City. Mr. Whitehill has for years been a member of the Presbyterian Church and his pastor Rev. H. F. Earseman conducted the funeral service in his memory at his residence on Wednesday, November 12 at 2:30. The body was interred at the Union cemetery at Knox. The American Legion according him all the honours due our heroic dead.3 He was buried at Knox Union Cemetery, Knox Township, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.2,3,4 He was born on March 17, 1842 at Helen Furnace, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.7,3,4 He married Margretta "Margaret" Lyons on October 25, 1870; The marriage date may also have been Oct 26, 1870.8,3,9,4 Robert Whitehill died on November 9, 1930 at Edenburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 88.3,4
