He later worked for the Stage Depot in Hopewell. He was a Trenton area Boy Scout Commissioner and coached the American on Wheels Speed Skating Team at the Capital Arena in Trenton. Son of the late Henry and Lily Bradley Bates and husband of the late Doris M. Bates, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen and Ronald Ent of Stockton and Maxine Singer of Lambertville; six grandchildren, Isaac, Terry and Gregory Peck, Doris Fender and Bradford and Brian Ent; eight great- grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Melissa, Janet, Samantha, Sara and Collin Peck and Andrew Fender. Burial will be in Morrisville (Pa.) Cemetery. on May 21, 2002.1
