Charles Edward Sampson CLARION, MARCH 3, - Charles E. Sampson, 62, of Tionesta, R. D., died en route to the Oil City hospital shortly after midnight Tuesday morning (Mar. 3) from injuries received when he was struck by a truck operated by Robert E. Marshall, 20, of Tylersburg, Clarion county, the accident occurring about a quarter mile north of Tylersburg on the Leeper Road. The accident occurred about 11:15 p.m. according to the information given the state motor police at Clarion. Sampson is said to have been walking along the highway south of Leeper, and the truck was traveling in the same direction. The driver told the state motor police that he observed Sampson ahead and changed the course of his truck to pass, and apparently the victim stepped out into the highway in front of the approaching truck. Sampson was taken to the office of a Leeper physician and given first aid treatment. He was then placed in an ambulance for the trip to Oil City hospital, but he died just after the machine passed through Fryburg, according to the state motor police. The victim is said to have suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries. His body was badly mangled by the impact with the truck. Dr. W. H. Wellman, of St. Petersburg, Clarion county coroner said after receiving the report of the attending physician, that no inquest will be held, and that a certificate of accidental death will be issued.1 His Social Security Number was 206-09-4979.4 He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Tionesta, Forest Co., Pennsylvania.1 He was born on April 3, 1876 at Clarion Co., Pennsylvania; His death certificate has a birth year of 1879.1,3 He died on March 3, 1942 at Fryburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 65.1,4
