He was born on August 6, 1940, in Vernon County, MO, to Orville Eugene Caton and Glen Christine Joan Hood Caton. Sonny spent his youth in Nevada, MO. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1958. He served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Canberra CAG2. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 34 years of employment. Following his retirement, he spent time with family and friends. He is going to be to be deeply missed by everyone that knew him. He was a wonderful Grandad to his four grandsons. She loved spending time with family, especially her kids and grandkids. She also loved to go to the Oregon Coast. She is survived by her husband, Gene, of Prairie City; son, James Watterson, of Riverton, Wyo; daughter, Shawna Smith, of Seymore, Mo; son, Calvan Watterson, of Carlin, Nev; stepchildren, Maria Van Newkirk, of Olympia, Wash; Charles Van Newkirk of Portland; and Noel Van Newkirk of Vancouver, Wash; and several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. on October 23, 2007.1

Thursday after services at the residence of her uncle Charles Grant at Eighth Street and Twelfth Avenue and at the grave. The Rev. Paul Brown officiated at the residence and the members of the Myrtle Lodge of Rebekahs at the grave. Miss Cole had been a member of the ladies' lodge during her residence here and had maintained her connection with it through all the years she had spent in Nebraska. She had been teaching in Nebraska for the last fifteen years, and she had been looking forward with happy anticipation to her wedding day, which was to have been sometime in January of next year. Instead death has intervened, and on the one who has been about to claim her hand has been imposed the sad duty of accompanying all that was mortal of her whom he loved to its resting place. As escort to the remains came Mrs. Lizzie Cole, the lady's mother, her brother, and her fiance, Joseph Brown, all of Seward. on September 7, 1905.2
