Those he leaves behind to carry on his memories includes his wife of 57 years, Ruth Marie (Collins) Sturgill of Mabscott; three daughters Patricia Carol Sturgill (Hampton) and husband Rex of Beckley; Rose Marie Sturgill (Shorter) of Princeton and Sandra Kay Sturgill (Meador) of Greensboro, NC; two sons Roger Dale Sturgill and wife Angie of Crab Orchard and Alvin Lewis Sturgill of Mabscott. He was suffering from many illnesses including, black lung, heart disease, kidney failure and Alzheimer’s disease. He had a short stay at Raleigh Center located in Daniels, but was currently a resident of Heartland of Beckley. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, he also loved a good western movie, and NASCAR - #88 (Dale Jarrett). He also loved an early spring ramp dig. He also loved to piddle and tinker around the house and he cherished the family dog, Murphy. Although he wasn’t a regular church member, he found his way into Jesus’ kingdom, with the aid of his sister Jean and her daughter Vickie. He will truly be missed by all his friends and family. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Franklin Delano “Mickey” Sexton officiating.

Born April 15, 1930 in Raleigh County, West Virginia. Albert enjoyed camping, car races and golf. He retired from the Coco-Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Iris Lilly; brother, George Lilly, Sr; sister, Ramona Calfee; nephew, George Lilly, Jr. Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Brenda I. Brownsmith and husband Martin of Martinsburg, WV, and Teresa Lilly and husband Robert of Chesterfield, VA and beloved grandson, Adam L.
