He was preceded in death by four brothers, Andrew, Clayton, Dennis and Darrell Elmore, all of West Virginia. Services will be 1:30 p.m. at the Cinco Wesleyan Church of Campbells Creek, with the Rev. Hathaway officiating. He will be laid to rest at Putney Cemetery in Campbells Creek with military honor service. on March 25, 2004.⁵

He attended Jackson Township School and graduated from Converse High School in 1931. He also attended Mount Zion Wesleyan Church. Survivors include six sons and their wives: Earl and Kim Graf, Kokomo, Loren "Bud" Graf and friend May, Kokomo, Joseph and Pat Graf, Avon Park, Fla., Darrell and Shirley Howell, Greentown, Verlin and Donna Howell, Pasco, Wash., Ronald and Judy Howell, Kokomo; four daughters and their spouses, Ellanore and Dudley Rich, Celina, Tenn., Joanna and Angel Colon, Kokomo, Roberta Richardson, Collinsville, Ala., and Sarah Steiner, Kettle Falls, Wash; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons David Graf and Kenneth Howell, two sisters and two grandsons. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hasler-Pickett Funeral Home in Greentown with the Rev. Dave Brandon officiating. Calling will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Converse Cemetery. on February 19, 1995.⁴
