     Dennis Eugene Mead was buried at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, Morrison Co., Minnesota.4,3 He LTC, Dennis Eugene Mead, age 75 of Milaca, MN (formerly of Menahga, MN and Gaylord, MN) died Oct 7, 2019 at the St. Cloud, MN, Hospital with family by his side, overlooking the mighty Mississippi River and Autumn trees which he loved. Dennis was born on January 13, 1944 in Denver, CO. At three weeks old, he was adopted into the family of Donald and Bernice Mead. He grew up in a loving family with one brother in Brighton, CO. Dennis graduated Brighton High School in 1962. He enjoyed telling stories of his youth and high school years. Dennis enlisted in the Army in 1966. While in Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA, he met his wife, Wanda. They married in Clyde, NC on Nov. 25,1967. In 1968, he was stationed at the DMZ in Korea during the Vietnam War. He returned home to Wanda and three month old daughter, Denyce Carole. Dennis graduated from the Univ. of CO with a BA in Psychology and further graduated from SD State Univ. with a Master in Education. Dennis worked for the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads, MN Home School, and the State of MN Dept. of Corrections retiring with 30 years. He also retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves with 29 years. Dennis was a service-oriented person. He was a school volunteer grandparent, a member of the Menahga Conservation Club, a lifelong volunteer of Boy/Girl Scouts, Dennis and Wanda were foster parents for over 20 years, and he belonged to the Gaylord UCC clown club where he enjoyed performing his Emmett Kelly character. He was also active in this church serving as president, camp counselor, or teaching Sunday School. As an Eagle Scout, Dennis' troop from CO took part in a Boundary Water Canoe Area (BWCA) trip where he fell in love with MN. After their daughter, Denyce, died in 1971, Dennis and Wanda moved from CO to MN. Dennis was a kind and giving gentleman with a sense of humor. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and took great joy in the outdoors. He treasured spending his retirement living on the Shell River and loved the four seasons of MN. He enjoyed watching birds, hiking, camping, canoeing, swimming, boating, water skiing, downhill skiing, and visiting State and National Parks with his children and grandchildren. He actively participated with his kids and grandkids in games, sports, activities, and conversations. He always made time for them. He instilled his love of the outdoors to them. Highlights for Dennis were traveling in all 50 states, all of his BWCA trips, and his 70-mile canoe trip down the Crow Wing River with his family when he turned 70. Dennis is survived by his wife; children, Ryan (Danae) of Parker, CO, Alisa (Tim) Truebenbach of Cambridge, MN, and Gabe (Julianna) of Carbondale, CO; his grandchildren, Megan, Lily, Jared, Chloe, Asher, Henry, Lainey, and Mara; as well as his brother, Ronald Mead of Chappell, NE; two sisters-in-law, Norma Cole of Greensboro, NC and Linda (Earl) Williams of Nashville, TN; 12 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter; his parents; four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Mead, Linda Mead, Joyce Kessner, and Jan Sheffield; three brothers-in-law, Jim Long, Doug Massey, and Carl Kessner; and two great-nephews, Christopher Head and Caney Ramsey. The Committal Service will be at Camp Ripley Cemetery.3 He was born on January 13, 1944 at Denver, Denver Co., Colorado.3 He married Wanda Carole Sheffield, daughter of Weaver Charles Sheffield and Wanda Rose Pipes, on November 25, 1967 at Clyde, Haywood Co., North Carolina.1,3 Dennis Eugene Mead died on October 7, 2019 at St. Cloud, Minnesota, at age 75.3

     Alice Ann Applas was buried at Clark Fork Cemetery, Clark Fork, Bonner Co., Idaho.4,3 She was born on July 16, 1918 at Polson, Lake Co., Montana.2,3 As of April 7, 1938,her married name was Sheneman.1 She married Paul Wendell Sheneman, son of Walter Albert Sheneman and Charlotte Eury "Lottie" Dillon, on April 7, 1938 at Kalispell, Flathead Co., Montana.1,4 Alice Ann Applas and Paul Wendell Sheneman were divorced before October, 1944.5,4 Alice Ann Applas died on February 13, 2017 at Sandpoint, Bonner Co., Idaho, at age 98.4,3 She Alice Ann Krause, 98, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private burial will be held at the Clark Fork Cemetery. Alice was born on July 16, 1918, in Polson, Montana, to Harry and Emma (Whitesitt) Applas. She graduated from Ronan High School, and married Paul Sheneman in Polson. Alice then married Leonard Higgins at Shelbyville, Indiana. Upon Leonard's death, Alice moved back to Montana, then Idaho, where she married Bruno Krause. Alice and Bruno enjoyed 24 wonderful years together, traveling throughout Alaska and all the Western states in pursuit of gold, and looking up old acquaintances while living in a camper. Many will remember them at the Bonner Mall in Sandpoint as Santa and Mrs. Claus every Christmas for 15 years. She opened a daycare center in Clark Fork, Idaho, at the age of 70, and worked as one of the first employees at Unicep at the age of 73. She was a senior companion, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Bonner County Gleaners. She continued to care for her great-grandchildren as she had for their parents and grandparents. She believed that every child should have the opportunity to attend Sunday school. Alice came to personal faith in Jesus Christ in her 30s, and that was the beginning of her great love for God and for the people He placed in her path. She consistently cared for others as being valuable in God's sight. She believed strongly that every child and every adult mattered to God and should have the opportunity to come to know the saving love of Jesus. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother John Applas; brother Harold Applas and sister-in-law Dorothy; husbands Leonard Higgins and Bruno Krause; daughter Betty Buckmaster; daughter-in-law Donna Higgins; great-grandson Gabriel Butchko; great-granddaughter Alice Buckmaster; and step-son-in-law Bruce Wilsey. She is survived by sons Jack (Audrey) Sheneman of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Dr. Paul (Lindsay) Sheneman of Lake Wales, Florida, Michael (Sandra) Higgins and David Higgins of Clark Fork; stepchildren Maxine Wilsey of Kennewick, Washington, Ben (Jeanette) Krause of Clarkston, Washington, and Steve (Lori) Krause of Lewiston, Idaho; niece Donna (Richard) Purvis of Columbus, Indiana; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. on February 21, 2017.4
