Blessed with dignity and grace, she was a beautiful presence who always stole the show. With a knack for cards and an innate talent for art, she leaves us with the most precious memories and appreciation for the contribution she made to all of our lives. On loan from above for a short trip, she’s now gone home, at His feet she sits. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Estaline Nash Rainey and Leola Irene "June" Nash Miller. Survivors include her devoted and beloved husband of 47 years, Boyd Crews of Lerona; children, Marie Shaughnessy Hughes of Norfolk, Va., Marcia Shaughnessy Meyer of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Johanna Crews Daniels of Willow Springs, N.C., William Crews of Knoxville, Md; grandchildren, Cathy Steinhauser, Cindy Stout, David Crouse, Leigh Crouse, Benjamin Daniels, Rachel Daniels, Brigidanna Crews, John W. Crews; ll great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr. Charles David Crouse II officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. on October 19, 2003.4

     Boyd Crews Boyd Crews, 85, of Fairway Drive, Lerona died peacefully Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his home with his by at his side. Born February 14, 1931 in Lerona, he was the son of the late Clarence Crews & Grace Via Crews. Boyd was educated Mercer County and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge from war, he worked for the Department of Navy for 31 years. He returned to his home place in 1990. Boyd loved mowing his yard with his John Deere mower and while his health permitted, using his computer to do genelogy research on his family. Boyd was a faithful worker and fund raiser for the Bluefield Union Missions. He attended Painters Chapel United Methodist Church at Speedway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Scottie Crews & a brother Roy Crews. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 12 years, JoAnn White Crews, Children, Bill Crews of MD, Johanna Daniels of NC, Step Children; Tina & Charles Larue of Clendenin, Deborah & Ronnie Bird of Speedway, Brenda & Tim Pennington of Cross Lane, Kenneth Crews of Green Valley. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Seven Siblings; Charles & Betty Howell of Princeton, John & Patty Harris of Lerona, Margie Waddy of Forest VA, Connie & Ray Nichols of Pipestem, Joe Crews of Orange VA, Jerry Crews of Barboursville, & Jimmy Crews of Gordonsville. Host of nieces and nephews. His special caregiver for nine years, Cathy Dalton whom he appreciated dearly. Services to celebrate the life of Boyd Crews will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor David Damewood officiating.
