Jean was a faithful member of The Church of God for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mildred (Sis) Wiseman; her first husband, Charles E. Sledd Sr; and her daughter, Selena Sledd Huddleston. Surviving are her son, Charles E. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Bishop Billy Cox, Bishop Lanny Carter, and the Reverend Connie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. on March 24, 2019.²

He was born on July 30, 1932 a son of the late Joseph C. Hale and Katie Richardson Fields. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stevie Hale. He retired with 30 years of service as Terminal Manager with Overnite Transportation. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Betty Lou Menefee Hale; other family members and friends.
