Mr. Belcher is survived by his wife, Lena Settle Belcher; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Doris) Hall in Germany and Sharon Belcher of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Molly Williams of Matoaka; Mrs. R.W. (Beulah) Hill of Bramwell and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be W. P. Wyrick, Barnes Gillepie, C. H. White, John Wasco, Howard Goins, Kenneth Price, Steve Kaluk and Kermit Blizzard. Mr. Belcher died suddenly Wednesday night, February 1, 1956 at Bluefield Sanitarium a few hours after admission. He had been employed by Pocahontas Fuel Company for 52 years and retired only four months ago. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for the service. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today. on February 3, 1956.3

He had been a resident of the Princeton area for 55 years and was a member of the Melrose Presbyterian Church. He was a 1932 graduate of McComas High School and retired as the general mine foreman for Eastern Associated Coal Company in Herndon. He had also formerly worked for Pocahontas Fuel. He was a 50-plus year member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge No.137 AF&AM and was a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Settle Mabe; sisters, Brookie Mabe, Bertha Webb, Maggie Lawson; and a brother, Henry Mabe. Survivors include daughters, Shirley Miller of Princeton, Vera Bowling of Princeton, Annabelle Lewis of Evans, Ga; grandchildren, Dana Allen of Princeton, Amy Lewis of Evans, Jonathan Bowling of Roanoke, Va., Carl Bowling and wife, Heather of Princeton; great-grandchildren, Riley and Blake; brother, Cletus Mabe and wife, Elizabeth of Montcalm; brother-in-law, Luieco Lawson of Princeton; sisters-in-law, Muriel Mabe of Murretta, Calif., Treecie Taylor of Princeton, Zelma Settle of Rich Creek, Va; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Casper Dalton and Paul Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where members of the Bailey Masonic Lodge No. 137 AF&AM will conduct graveside services and serve as pallbearers.      Zelma Louise Bailey RICH CREEK, Va. - Zelma Louise Bailey Settle, 84, of Rich Creek, formerly of Bramwell, went home to her Lord Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 in Pearisburg, Va., following a long period of declining health and a short, severe illness. Born Oct. 9, 1920, Windmill Gap, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mabel O'Brien Bailey. She was the seventh of 17 children and the oldest living daughter. She was a graduate of McComas High School and earned her undergraduate degree in education from Concord College in Athens. She was born to be a teacher, loved teaching with a passion, and never considered doing anything else. She began teaching on an emergency teaching certificate at the age of 18 in one room Barger School on "Mabe Mountain," near Windmill Gap, walking several miles to work and then back to the Bailey homeplace each day. She later taught at Sagamore Elementary School, Crumpler Elementary School, Wilcoe Elementary School and ended her career at Anawalt Elementary and Junior High School in the McDowell County School system. She was a reading specialist and taught many years in the Title 1 reading program in McDowell County. She taught literally hundreds of children to read and more importantly to love reading and literature. After the Lord and her family, she loved teaching and children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Dayton Settle; sisters, Frances Bailey, Dora Bailey Baldwin, Mamie Bailey Taylor, and Patricia Bailey Sadtler; brothers, Leonard Bailey, Bernard Bailey, Delmer Bailey, Clinton Bailey, U.G. Bailey and David Bailey. Survivors include three children whom she brought up in the " ... nurture and admonition of the Lord," and who are all active followers of Christ today. They are her daughter, Barbara Louise Settle Hill and son-in-law, Stephen Hill of Elkview; son, Gareth Dayton Settle and daughter-in-law, Theresa Settle of Athens, Cleveland Stanford Settle and daughter-in-law, Dreama Settle of Peterstown; sisters, Bonnie Bailey Hodge of Rocky Gap, Va., Bridget Bailey Morrow of Fredericksburg, Va; brothers, William Bailey and wife, Lucy of Palatka, Fla., Raymond Bailey of Mansfield Center, Conn., Marvin Bailey and wife, Annette of Ward, Ark., and Kenneth Bailey and wife, Betty of Casa Grande, Ariz; grandchildren, Kristin Settle Bowman, Rebecca Leanne Settle, Leslie Katherine Settle, Matthew Stephen Hill, Christian Chord Settle, John and Ronnie Putorek, and Jeremy and Brandon Brown, as well as many greatly loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Quesinberry and Angie Quesinberry. Gary was a heavy equipment operator in the coal mining industry. He was of the Baptist faith. Gary will be sadly missed by his five sons, Danny Quesinberry and fiancé Karen of Clovis, Calif., David Quesinberry of Princeton, W.Va., Gary Quesinberry II and Kimbra Foss of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tony Quesinberry, Hobert Qusinberry of Princeton, W.Va; one daughter, Christine Grondzik of Princeton, W.Va; one brother, Randy Quesinberry of Coaldale, W.Va; and thirteen grandchildren. Survivors include, two sons, Michael Quesinberry of Asheville, NC Jack Quesinberry, Jr. of Bramwell, WV; one daughter, Arleen Miller and husband Junior of Bramwell, WV; nine Grandchildren and Seventeen Great-Grandchildren. Mrs. Quesinberry was a resident of Coaldale all of her life where she was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Jack "Randy" Quesinberry Sr. of the home; two sons, Jack Quesinberry Jr. and wife Sherry of Bramwell, and Michael Quesinberry of Ashville, N.C; one daughter, Arleen Miller and husband Junior of Bramwell; two brothers, Johnny Hazelwood and wife Doris of Wind Mill Gap, and Billy Hazelwood of Booneville, N.C; one sister, Gail Griffith and husband Jerry of Maple Acres; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Survivors include: Daughters, Karen Bailey and husband the Reverend Donnie of Saltville, Va., Carla Handy and husband Michael of Princeton, W.Va; sisters, Zelma Blevins and husband Johnny of Lindside, W.Va., Dorothy Presnell of Bluewell, W.Va; sister-in-law, Judy Taylor of Bluewell, W.Va; grandchildren, Luke Bailey and wife Molinda, Jessi Adkisson and husband Logan, Brittany Handy; great-grandchildren, Tyler Bailey, Taylor Bailey, Colton Bailey, Haily Adkinson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening, October 13, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Donnie Bailey officiating the service. Born on May 16, 1937 in Goodwill, he was a son of the late Fizer and Treecie Settle Taylor. He had been a resident of Airport Road for 14 years and was a retired coal miner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wiley and Carson Taylor. Survivors include: Wife: Judy Meade Taylor of the home; three sons: Mark Taylor and wife Susie of Columbus, Ga., David Taylor and Natasha of Elizabethton, Ky., Andrew Taylor of the home; two daughters: Anita Brennan and husband Randy of Katy, Texas, Joan Smith and husband Wade of Christiansburg, Va; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters: Dorothy Presnell of Bluewell, Darkis Poe of Bluefield, Zelma Blevins of Lindside. Funeral services will be conducted at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Donnie Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at the Belcher Cemetery in Coaldale with sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. She was a resident of the Hiram area the past seven years, formerly living in Alkol, W.Va., and the surrounding areas most of her lifetime. Mrs. Mace enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and nature and watching birds and was known as the “town seamstress,” having made clothing for both her children and other area families because of her passion and quality of sewing. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Kyle Reid of Hiram, Ohio, Wanda and Robert Roush of Eastlake, Ohio, and Barbara and Ted Mosley of Stanleytown, Va; sisters and brothers-in-law, Verbie and Albert Messer of Danville and Lennie and Elihu Hudson of Hammondsville, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Marie Van Gundy of Sumerco; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mace was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Mace, on Jan. 4, 1968; sister, Allie “Jesse” Messer; and brother, Sanford Van Gundy. A service to celebrate her life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison. Her final resting place will be in the family cemetery at Bulger, near Alkol. Friends may call two hours prior to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
