Mark Gilliam, 21, was arrested Thursday night and released after posting bond, said Beckley Patrolman R.J. Elam. Elam said Gilliam drove his pickup truck left of center on South Kanawha Street in Beckley on Oct. 23 and slammed head-on into a 1993 Honda driven by Kevin Otis Ivan, 37, of Beckley. Ivan died in a Charleston hospital Wednesday. Gilliam had initially been charged with DUI following the incident, Elam said. Ivan was born in Beckley. He was manager of Pied Piper, Crossroads Mall, Beckley, with 12 years' service. He was a graduate of Lee College, Cleveland, Tenn., and a member of Beckley Church of God. Surviving: stepson, Mel Whitlock of Oak Hill; stepdaughter, Stacey Whitlock of Beckley; mother, Goldie Hearn Ivan of Beckley; sister, Karen Rebecca Ivan Leach of Beckley. Service will be 1 p.m. today at Beckley Church of God with the Rev. John Sanger and the Rev. F.D. Sexton officiating. Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Prosperity. on November 5, 1994.3

Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Reed. Besides her father, she is survived by her husband, Paul Coffman; a daughter, Kristen Coffman Boothe and husband, Dan, of Beaver; two sons, Keith Coffman of Beckley and Cody Coffman, a student at High Point University at High Point, N.C; two grandsons, Travis and Alex Boothe; two brothers, Kenneth Reed and wife, Darlene, of Wise, Va., and Robert Reed and wife, Linda, of Madams Creek, Hinton. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Vondie Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Frank Wheby, Jack Hartwell, Dickie Cook, Buck Meadows, Mason Jones and Mike Wood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to “The Walk For Her Lifetime,” c/o Margie Temple, Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital, P.O. Box 940, Hinton, WV 25951.
