Mrs. Marie Holcomb, 41, of Widen was apparently killed instantly when her auto collided with another car driven by Carl W. Sirk, 42, of Strange Creek in Braxton County, troopers said. Troopers said the accident occurred at 6:30 a.m, Friday. Mrs. Holcomb pulled her eastbound auto off the north berm of the road into the path of the eastbound Sirk car, which struck the door on the driver side of Mrs. Holcomb's car, troopers said. Mrs. Holcomb was the wife of Jack Holcomb, a State Department of Highways employe. She was employed by the Commission for Aging in Clay County. She had just started her work day when the accident occurred. She was a member of the Widen Baptist Church and graduated in 1948 from what was then Widen High School.
