George Frank Carter George Frank Carter, age 92, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at his home. He was born May 21, 1927, to the late John Carter and Sarah Hubbard Carter in Bassett, Va. Frank was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He attended Pleasant View United Methodist Church and retired from Pittston Coal Company. Frank was a member of the St. Paul Masonic Lodge No. 343. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by nine siblings. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Loreeta Nixon Carter; son, Rex Carter of Abingdon, Va; daughter, Sheri Ellen Carter of Herndon, Va; grandson, Daxton Cole Carter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A committal service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 and the United States Army. Pallbearers will be Rex Carter, Jami Hamilton, Larry Holden, Bruce Moretz, Jimmy Rettinger, Rob Sanger, and Gene Scalf.4 He was buried at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington Co., Tennessee.4,7 He was born on May 21, 1927 at Bassett, Virginia.3,4,7,5 He married Loreeta Ellen Nixon, daughter of Rexford Lawrence "Rex" Nixon and Eva Carlene Cole, on May 26, 1973 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1,2,3,4 George Frank Carter died on July 27, 2019 at Bristol, Virginia, at age 92.4,7

She was born in Johnson City, TN on September 5, 1929 to Hardin & Ina Dale. Betty was educated at Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, TN, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN, and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. She married her husband, Harvey, in 1953, and opened her own dancing school where she taught ballet and tap. She then transitioned to 2nd grade and taught for 25 years. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Norfolk, VA. After retirement Betty and Harvey traveled extensively by RV visiting 49 of the 50 states and some of Canada. In her later years, she lived at Franklin Park Retirement Community in San Antonio, and was very active there. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey Jackson Ridinger, Jr; and brothers, Ralph, H.D., Cecil, and Glenn Dale. She is survived by her children, Jennifer K. Seltzer (Thomas) and Jack Ridinger (Candy); as well as 3 grandchildren, Kristine Kay, Joshua Klaus and Joel Klaus. Betty will be interred next to her husband in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, VA. A memorial service will take place at Franklin Park Retirement Community in San Antonio, September 18th at 4:00 p.m. on September 4, 2016.2
