"Buster" Schaake died on January 20, 2011 at Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas, at age 87.1 He Memorial services for Carl L. “Buster” Schaake, 87, Lawrence, were held Jan. 24 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Schaake died Jan. 20, 2011, at the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center in Winchester. He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Albert Christian and Cecile Darlene Kiefer Schaake. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a longtime area farmer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion, Travelers Protective Association, Farmers Co-op Association, Douglas County Farm Bureau, the American Association of Retired Persons, the University Bridge Club, the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a Douglas County Extension board member. He married Isabelle Virginia Gray Aug. 1, 1959, in Miami, Okla. She survives, of Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. Other survivors include a daughter, Sarah Gray Leonhard, Oskaloosa; a sister, Fern Schaake, Topeka; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Schaake. on January 28, 2011.1

Foutz; grandchildren, Lester Foutz, Jr. and wife, Deanna, Charlie Elmore, Sherry Foutz and fiancé, Mitchell Paul; great-grandchildren, Jacob Foutz, Josh Mills, and Maria Foutz, Chelsea, Blake, and Olivia Elmore; and many special nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at Richfield Retirement 3 East and the Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Paitsel Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Booth officiating. Interment will follow at Huffman Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. on May 18, 2015.3

She had been struggling with diabetes and cancer for the past several years. Charlene Ann Davis was born on January 7, 1950 in Fort Totten, ND to Saul and Margaret (Jones) Davis. She was raised and educated in Minot and attended Minot State University for two years. As a young adult she was employed at a local dry-cleaning establishment and at Sykes. Charlene married Barry Furrow on December 25, 1988 at Minot Air Force Base. They made their home at MAFB and Charlene was employed at the North Dakota Department of Human Services as a mental health counselor. She retired in 1997. Charlene had attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed playing pool, collecting teddy bears from most states and caring for her pets. Charlene is survived by her husband of 34 years Barry; children: Vincent, Tony and Linda; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several step siblings.
