In addition to her parents and husband of 59 years, she was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Nolley Palmer and Juanita Nolley Turner; and one brother, Thomas Jefferson Nolley. She is survived by twin sons, Barry Wallace Willard and Garry Thomas Willard, both of Christiansburg; and two daughters, Lynn Willard Ward of North Tazewell and Rita Willard O'Rourke of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007 at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel and will be conducted by the Rev. Sebert Rorrer. She worked at the PPG Chemical in Barberton as a payroll manager for over 40 years. She frequently recounted stories of the affection she felt for her many friends and co-workers there. She had been in the care of Pleasant View Nursing Home since 1999. She would want to acknowledge the loving care of Missy Sweet and the other caring attendants there, and the kind administration of Mrs. Pam Boone. Hahn-Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. She will be interred next to her husband at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service is planned at a future date. on November 12, 2005.2

She was born in Rogers, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Hamett E. Nolley and Allie Sutphin Nolley. She was also preceded in death by her son, J.B. Martin. Survivors include her husband, Garnett R. Martin of Riner; one daughter and her husband, Peggy and Jack Smith; two sons and their wives, Jack and Norma Martin, Stanley and Ellen Martin; and a daughter-in-law, Doris Martin. All are of Riner. Also, two sisters, Rachael Bickle and Nellie Jackson, both of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Clifford Nolley, Mile City, Montana; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Mr. C.E. Mannon and Pastor John Townsend. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends there Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. on January 19, 1999.1

Mr. Nolley was born on June 27, 1918 in Christiansburg, Virginia, the son of Hammett and Allie (Sutphin) Nolley. He attended grade school in Virginia before his family left the family farm and moved west in 1930. After periods spent living in South Dakota, Montana, and Idaho, he settled in Miles City, where he met Beulah Parks. They were married on Dec. 14, 1940. The young couple moved to Vancouver, Washington during the war where he became a welder-leadman in the Kaiser shipyard; Beulah also welded there, and both even worked on occasion on the same ship. Near the end of the war, he served a brief time in the Navy. After the war, he was employed briefly at the Chevrolet garage in Miles City, before returning to welding. He worked for Anderson Iron Works for a time before establishing Nolley’s Welding Service, which he maintained for many years. Mr. Nolley was a devoted husband, father, and church member. He served his church in widely varying capacities over the years and remained an active Gideon to the end of his life. In retirement, he also volunteered in various capacities, including service at Friendship Villa and for the Veteran’s Administration. He loved to hunt and especially to fish. In his later years, nothing pleased him more than to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Ken and his wife Jan of Salem, Ore., Charles and his wife Saba of Chicago, Ill., Carolyn and her husband Richard Newell of Billings, Rita and her husband Timothy Andersen of Missoula, and Don and his wife Jill of Minneapolis, Minn; by his grandchildren; Matthew and Michael Nolley, Omid, Majid, and Jahan Nolley, Julia (Newell) Iverson and Joanna (Newell) Eddy, Amy and Ken Andersen, and Alex Nolley; and by a large number of special nieces and nephews, including: Loretta Peters of Seattle, Wash., Lorraine Ilardi of Anchorage, Alaska, and Wilma Leidholt of Miles City. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah, his parents, a son Clifford (known as Butch), his brother Ed Nolley, and his sisters Beulah Martin, Nellie Jackson, and Rachel Bickle. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Grace Bible Church, the Miles City Gideons, Box 1336, Miles City, MT 59301, or the charity of one’s choice. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2006 with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
