She is survived by her sister, Katie Nolley Willard of Christiansburg; two nephews, Barry Willard and Garry Willard of Christiansburg; and four nieces, Lynn Ward of North Tazewell, Rita O'Rourke of Virginia Beach, Patricia Barker of Roanoke, and Barbara Lawson of Colorado Springs, Colo. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant baby son, a sister, Juanita Nolley Turner of Roanoke, and a brother, Thomas Jefferson Nolley, Jr. of Christiansburg. After her husbands death, Mrs. Palmer took over the operation of a small grocery store founded by her husband, known as Hamps Superette, and managed it until her retirement in 1979. After her retirement she became involved in many activities at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church where she was an active and life-long member until her health deteriorated. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation and a graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people who have shown so much love, kindness and compassion over the last two years of what was otherwise a wonderful, healthy, active and happy life. Relatives, friends and many others contributed greatly toward her well-being and happiness during her life. Helen will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Gilbert and Evelyn Nolley, Paul and Josephine Nolley, Roy Nolley, Luther Nolley, Gearldean Nolley, Florence Nolley, Mamie Nolley and Lena Nolley . She is survived by cousins, Katie Willard, Helen Palmer, Barbara Bibb and other cousins; special friends, Ella Burke, James and Sarah Akers, Jerry and Margaret Smith and Family, Bobby and Dot Bishop, James and Glenna Jones, James and Ella Wirt, Bill Teel and Sam Tollison; loving caregivers, Tammy Duncan, Barbara Gravely, Kathy Adkins, and Elsie Cox. The family would like to give a special thanks to Pat and Missy at Gentle Shepherd Hospice for always being there when needed. Friends may call anytime Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. After the visitation, a service will follow in the Horne Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. The Rev. Don Peters will be officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad Riner Branch or the New River Land Trust to help conserve the waterways, mountains and farmland that Ruth and her family so dearly loved. on May 6, 2006.3

He is survived by his loving sister, Ruth Sue Nolley of Riner; special first cousins, Katie Sue Willard and Helen Palmer both of Christiansburg; and numerous other cousins. Luther was a lifelong farmer in the Riner area who loved the land he grew up on and the wild life it nurtures. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Ruth; and the many neighbors whom he helped and who helped him. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the Horne Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at the funeral home. The Nolley family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service.
