He is preceded in death by his father, Okley Boyd. He is survived by the love of his life, Ann Hylton Boyd. Also surviving are the greatest children in the world, Angela (Dr. Mark) Munzinger, Elizabeth (Larry) Gravely, Crystal (David) Pratt, April Boyd, Jasmine Boyd, and Benjamin (Katherine) Boyd; special step-son, Chris Eavey. He takes great pleasure in spoiling his 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother and best friend, Goldie Boyd; sisters, Martha (Charlie) Allen, Hazel Radford, Linda (Greg) Fountaine, and Brenda (Derwin) Epperly; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and the hundreds of children and teens he and Ann have collected over the years. Clifford was a Life Member of Floyd County Fire Department, Station 4 and a 37 year Active Life Member of the Floyd County Volunteer Rescue Squad. It was always his joy to be of service to his community. Interment will follow in the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. on July 11, 2019.4

He was the perfect Daddy and a fun and playful Papa to the grandchildren he cherished. As a husband, he was an encouraging and tender companion to his wife, Pat, whom he married on March 1, 1996. After taking retirement from KVII as general sales manager, he and Pat moved to Santa Fe, N.M., where for seven years they enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and company of new friends. They returned to Amarillo to be closer to family and friends in 2004. Survivors include his wife, Pat Patrick; two daughters, Bonnie Pennington, her husband, Scott, and their daughter, Cheyanne, all of Amarillo, and Jennifer Kilburn, her husband, Brian, and their children, Caz, Rylea and Kyla, all of Amarillo; a son, Chris McDonald, his wife, Melissa, and their children, Jackson, Andrew, Bobby, Cynthia, Allison, Tiffany and Jessica, all of Fritch; a sister, Patsy Fox and husband, Donald, of Amarillo; a sister, Barbara Reger and husband, Tommy, of Eliasville; a brother, Bobby Patrick of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, Delbert Morgan of Keller; his mother-in-law, Grace Morgan of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. on April 16, 2006.2

Mrs. Burgess was a homemaker and as her children grew she served as a volunteer leader with PTA, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She particularly enjoyed the fall season. She is survived by four children: Bill Burgess Jr. and longtime daughter-in-law, Sylvia Burgess, Brad Burgess and wife, Karen, and Bridget Burgess, all of Lawton; and Barbie Sheffield and husband, W. Blaine, Edmond; nine grandchildren: Martin Newby, Warren Newby, Bradley Burgess, Corbin Burgess, Beverly Burgess, Christopher Tipps, Taylor Burgess, Brantly Sheffield and Braxton Sheffield; two great-grandchildren: Blake Walker Burgess and Kimberlyn Peyton Newby; and a brother, Melvin Collinsworth Jr. She was preceded in death by two children: Bobby Don and Becky Kay Burgess; and a sister, Ida Mae Biddle. Memorial service for Billy Wayne Burgess, Jr., age 62, Lawton, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 in First Baptist Church under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Mr. Burgess, former owner and publisher of The Lawton Constitution, died Friday, February 8, 2019. Burgess and his brother, Brad W. Burgess, purchased the newspaper in 2012 from Don and Stephen F. Bentley. They later sold it to Southern Newspapers Inc. in 2018. Burgess is a native of Lawton, the son of the late Sgt. Bill Burgess Sr. and Betty Burgess. Burgess graduated from Cameron University and earned a law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He and his brother were partners in the law firm of Burgess and Hightower. Burgess was chairman of Vortex Inc., a holding company for real estate developments and technology companies. He also was chairman and principal owner of Techrizon (formerly TELOS-OK), now known as CGI, and he developed it into the largest Oklahoma software engineering company. He was active in many business organizations, including serving as chairman of Leadership Oklahoma, which honored him as the Distinguished Graduate for its 25th anniversary celebration in 2012. He had been chairman of the Oklahoma Business Roundtable and of the Lawton Chamber of Commerce. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2008, and he was named Corporate Entrepreneur of the Year by the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Burgess served two nine-year terms on the state Regents for Higher Education, the coordinating board for Oklahoma’s public colleges and universities, and was the youngest state regent in state history. In 2010 he was name as civilian aide to the secretary of the Army, promoting good relationships between the Army and the public by acting as spokesman for and adviser to the secretary of the Army. Burgess, an Eagle Scout, has served as president of the Oklahoma Council and is recipient of Scouting’s Silver Beaver award. He is survived by his children, Bradley Burgess and Beverly Burgess; his grandsons, Blake and Foster; His wife Kimera Carel and her children, Matt Carel and Sarah Yost and granddaughter, Clara; His former spouse, Sylvia Burgess and her husband John Courington and John’s mother Frances Thomsen; His siblings, Brad Burgess wife Karen, Bridget Burgess and Barbie Sheffield and husband W.
