Graveside service: A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sunshine Kids. After raising her four children, Mrs. Barnett spent hours in volunteer service. She counseled troubled youth and young adults, supported the theatrical arts as president of A.D. Players Guild in Houston and was president of her Toastmasters International club, all while managing her interior design business, Ashfold Hall, Gallery of Interior Design. Her energy and vibrant spirit were an amazement to all who knew and loved her, and she lived every moment to the fullest. She was a woman of great faith who taught her children to be kind, respectful and loving towards all people, to serve others without regard to self, pride or conceit, to comfort the poor in spirit and to give solace to the sad and lonely. These are among the things our Lord asks us to do with a willing and loving heart. Her tired heart beat its last on August 13, yet its cadence continues today in the hearts of her four children and three grandchildren. We will miss her larger-than-life personality and will cherish our fond memories of a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. Survivors: Sons, Mike Russ and wife, Alice, and Mark Russ; daughters, Mechelle Brown and husband, Robin, and Rebecca Ratkiewicz; sisters, Eva Kavanagh and Kathy Walker and husband, Baird; grandchildren, Taylor Ratkiewicz and Lily Brown; four nephews; two nieces; and 11 grandnephews and grandnieces. on August 18, 2010.⁴
