He was born Friday, May 19, 1961, in Bedford County, a son of the late Monroe Maxfield and Nettie King Maxfield. He was an employee of Brooks Food Group and and was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Betty Jo Arthur Maxfield; two sons, Kenneth D. Maxfield Jr. and wife, Sarah, of Bedford, Benjamin J. Maxfield and wife, Tiffany, of Springfield; three grandchildren, Hannah Grace Maxfield, Kaylee Faith Maxfield, Aaden Joseph Maxfield; five brothers, Emory King, James Maxfield, both of Roanoke, Tony Maxfield, Johnny Maxfield, both of Bedford, Leonard Maxfield, of Callaway; four sisters, Geraldine Boitnott, of Bloomington, Ill., Nancy Hubbard, Betty Ruff, both of Bedford, Garnetta Witt, of Thaxton. Interment will follow in Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery. on May 15, 2011.⁴

     Geraldine Junior King Geraldine J. Boitnott, 83 of Bloomington passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday December 14, 2022, at 8:20 PM. There will be a Graveside service at Rosewood Cemetery in Bloomington. Geraldine was born July 30, 1939, in Roanoke, Virginia. She married Leonard Boitnott on December 3, 1960, in Bloomington. He survives. She is also survived by seven children, Benjamin (Carol) Boitnott of Waynesville, Ricky Boitnott of Cooksville, Wayne Boitnott of Bloomington, Vicky (Richard Jr.) Griffieth of Bloomington, Rodney (Glenda) Boitnott of Covell, Lisa Hunt of Bloomington, B.J. (Amy Sellner) Boitnott of Bloomington, 75 grand, great grand and great-great-grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother Maulde King, one daughter Tammie Boitnott, one grandson Bobby Lee Biggs, one brother Kenneth Maxfield and one sister Nancy Martin. Geraldine attended West Twin Grove Church in Bloomington. She loved her dogs Buffy and Sparky and flowers. Her husband, kids and grandchildren were her whole world. She was an Angel on earth and her husband, kids, grandkids, family and friends were blessed to have her as their wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend. Everyone that met her was blessed to have shared a moment in time with Jerri. A moment no one will ever forget because she left her impression/imprint with them... She loved everyone unconditionally and without hesitation. Most of all she loved God.⁴ She was buried at Rosewood Cemetery, Bloomington, McLean Co., Illinois.⁴ Her married name was Boitnott.⁵ She was born on July 30, 1939 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,4 She married Leonard Thomas Boitnott on December 3, 1960 at Bloomington, McLean Co., Illinois.^1,4 Geraldine Junior King died on December 14, 2022 at Bloomington, McLean Co., Illinois, at age 83.⁴

     Donald Woodrow Hubbard Donald Woodrow Hubbard, 75 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center. He was born on Friday, August 27, 1943 in Bedford County, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Hubbard and Edna Irene Dillon Hubbard. He worked for thirty-nine years at the Rubatex Corporation and most recently as a custodian with Bedford County Public Schools. He attended Thomas Road Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Mary Fielder Hubbard; his sons, Kevin D. Hubbard & wife, Krista of Valley Center, CA, Keith R. Hubbard of Bedford County; his step-children, Kenneth W. Andrews, Michelle R. Tuck, Rodney A. Andrews, Christopher P. Andrews all of Bedford; his grandchildren, Eden L. Hubbard, Jamie L. Soles; his step-grandchildren, Brendon R. Andrews, Elizabeth Andrews; his brothers, Boyd Hubbard of Thaxton, Herbie Hubbard of Goode, David Hubbard of Bedford; his sister, Debbie Boswell of Raleigh, NC.      Jerry Carter Witt Jerry Carter Witt, 77 of Thaxton, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, at his residence. He was born on Friday, June 18, 1943, in Bedford, a son of the late Atlee Jeter Witt and Martha Sadie Carter Witt. He was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Witt. He is survived by his wife, Garnetta Maxfield Witt; his son, David Witt & wife, Melisa; his grandchildren, Jordan Little & husband, Greg, Hunter Witt; his great-grandchildren, Emileigh Little, Owen Little as well as one brother.      Arthur Gordon Parris Arthur Gordon Parris, 80, died Friday, January 24, 2014, at his residence. Born in Abingdon, VA and a son of the late Vernie Alonza and Essie Gray Parris, he was the husband of Frances Isabelle Gray Parris. Rev. Parris was retired from Mathis Plumbing in Greenwood and was a retired Baptist Minister. He was a US Air Force veteran and was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Frances Gray Parris, children, Nancy Canter of Meadowview, VA, Betty Poole of Thomasville, NC, Carol Griffin of Kingsport, TN, Gary Parris of Greenwood, SC, Patricia Parris of Lodi, VA, Joann Quesenberry of Meadowview, VA, Marlene Moody of Wheeling, WV and Daniel Catlett of Leesburg, VA; two sisters, Sena Martin of Saluda and Alta Koning of Chillhowie, VA; sixteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. Rev.      Lana Denise Catlett was buried at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, Rowan Co., North Carolina.^2,4 She was born on March 12, 1953 at Bethesda, Montgomery Co., Maryland.^1,2,4,3 As of October 2, 1971,her married name was Horsman.¹ She married John David Horsman on October 2, 1971 at Springfield, Fairfax Co., Virginia.¹ Lana Denise Catlett and John David Horsman were divorced on June 27, 1978 at Prince William Co., Virginia.⁵ As of October 4, 1986,her married name was Brewen.⁶ Lana Denise Catlett married Cheney Claybourne "Bud" Brewen III on October 4, 1986 at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.^6,2,3 Lana Denise Catlett died on April 9, 2012 at Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, at age 59.^2,4,7,3 She Lana Denise Catlett Brewen, March 12, 1953 - April 9, 2012. Mrs. Brewen, of Matthews passed away after a valiant fight against liver disease. She went peacefully and comfortably and now is with the our Lord and Savior. Born March 12, 1953 in Bethesda, Maryland, Denise was the daughter of Frances Isabell Gray Parris and the late Donald Roy Catlett. While attending high school in Springfield, Virginia, Denise was the lead majorette, something she was very proud of. Mrs. Brewen was a computer programmer for the Defense Communications Agency from 1977 to 1987. During her ten years with the agency, Denise worked from a GS1 to GS13. She was stationed in Germany and enjoyed traveling and seeing Europe. While stationed in Germany, she met Bud Brewen, who has been her husband and best friend. In October of 2011, Denise and Bud celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They moved back to the US in 1987 and upon Bud's retirement relocates to Matthews in 1991. Denise was an active member and administrator for the Blair Road United Methodist, and will be remembered as a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. Survivors include her husband Bud, daughter Kelly, was the joy of her life, mother and stepfather Fran and Gordon Parris of Saluda, SC; and brother Dan Catlett and wife Ellen of Leesburg, VA. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would to thank the doctors, nurses and medical staff for their care and compassion shown to Denise during her battle with cancer. on April 12, 2012.³
