She was very active in their fund-raising efforts to provide the funds to furnish dictionaries to school children, provide academic scholarships and supply gift baskets during the holidays to needy families. Layle attended Riverside Baptist Church, Riverside, MO. Her last days were spent at Ramona Villa where she quickly made friends and adjusted to the new environment. She was also preceded in death by her best friend and daughter-in-law, Sandi Devling on December 15, 1997; two brothers, Lawrence Earl Hevalow on June 24, 1989, and Merlin Elsworth Hevalow on October 12, 1968; and Norma Louise Hevalow Robbins Hoy on November 25, 1993. Survivors include a son, Larry Devling, Lake Waukomis, MO; a daughter, Janice Devling Taylor, Tulsa, OK; a granddaughter, Tammy Elaine Devling Lynn; a grandson, Benny Devling; a great-granddaughter, Breana Elaine Lynn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina and Jim Shanks, Kansas City, MO, Faye and Charlie Matthys, North Kansas City, MO, Velma Mae Donaldson, North Kansas City, MO, and Genevieve and George Riddle, Kansas City, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irene Hevalow, North Kansas City, MO, Richard and Ruby Hevalow, Parkville, MO, Galein and Jacki Hevalow, Kansas City, MO, Kenneth and Sylvia Hevalow, Kansas City, MO, Billy and June Hevalow, Kansas City, MO, Charles Hevalow, Parkville, MO, Donald Hevalow, Kansas City, MO, Tommy and Connie Hevalow, Smithville, MO, and Garry and Mary Hevalow, Parkville, MO. Survivors include son, Benny Devling of Kansas City; daughter, Tammy Lynn of Tonganoxie, Kan; sister, Jan King of Denton, Texas; and girlfriend, Mindy Newsom of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Breana Lynn and Devin Stuart; and extended family of nine uncles, four aunts and a host of cousins and pet cat Bruce.
