     John Noland DeWeese was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 He John Noland Deweese, 67, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at his home. He was born on November 30, 1952, in Roanoke, Va. to the late Edward and Reba Reese Deweese. For several years, John served as a caregiver to his dear friend, Linda Eanes. His compassion for health care came from his employment as a Monitor Tech at Lewis Gale and previously with Carilion Roanoke Memorial. He was well known as an avid NASCAR fan; however, he will be remembered most as a loving, caring, and good-hearted person. He will be sadly missed! Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his loving friend, Linda Eanes; his cousins, and many, many other friends. In keeping with the wishes of the family, a private graveside will be conducted at Sherwood Memorial Park, in Salem, with the Rev. Ben Lockhart officiating.2 He was born on November 30, 1952 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,3 He died on May 7, 2020 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 67.2

He is survived by his wife Kim Smith; sons Devin and Derek Smith, of Check; parents Barry and Sue Smith of Copper Hill; also his maternal grandmother Ollie Mae Nichols of Roanoke and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many close, special friends. Though his time on this earth was short, he touched so many lives with his smiles, laughter, and love! We will miss him very much! We love you Pooh! Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday March 21, 2002 at Copper Hill Church of The Brethren with Rev. Jim Worline and J. C. Holden officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and also from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday March 20, 2002 at Gardner Funeral Home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Corbin and Doris. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rosemary; sons, Keith and Tony; daughter, Kathy (Phillip) Solomon; step-children, Robert (Deborah) Webster, Donna (Tim) Haddix and Linda (David) Pendleton. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack and Danny; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his fur baby “Sam” who was his riding buddy. His laughter, “little jokes” and the unconditional love he showed others will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wants to say a special thank you to Juanita Powell who was his caregiver. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Linda Ellison of Leiston (Saxmundham, County of East Suffolk), England and her loving husband of 38 years, William Eugene "Gene" Strickler of Rocky Mount. Rosemary came to the United States from England and was granted U.S. Citizenship on March 3, 1965, of which she was so proud. She is survived by her children, Linda (David) Pendleton, Robert (Deborah) Webster, and Donna (Tim) Haddix; stepchildren, Tony Strickler, Kathy (Philip) Soloman, and Keith Strickler; sisters, Jean and Barbara, who reside in England; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by her "fur baby" Sam who she dearly loved and was her constant friend and companion. She traveled the Alaska Highway with her husband, Roff Strickler, and their four children in 1960, settling in Anchorage. Mrs. Strickler worked for the Anchorage School District and later for Automotive Parts and Equipment Co., retiring in 1972. She enjoyed traveling to the Lower 48 in the winter and gold mining in the Boundary area in the summer with her husband and family. Family wrote, "Janet was a loving mother, caring grandparent, and center stone of the family." Her husband preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kissee and son-in-law, Steve, of Eagle River; son, William Strickler and daughter-in-law, Janine, of Anchorage; daughter, Alice Moore of Anchorage; son, Roger Strickler and daughter-in-law, Glori, of Wasilla; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
