An excellent quilter and seamstress, Mrs. Johnson handmade a number of quilts for the Ronald McDonald House and also crafted beautiful prom, wedding and bridesmaids dresses for family and close friends. She gave of her time and talents as a volunteer at Christiana Hospital and in Delaware City during election season. In her leisure time, Mrs. Johnson enjoyed travelling. "Mom Mom," as she was fondly known by the residents of Delaware City, will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph O. Johnson; sons, Charles and Donald Johnson; brothers, Jack and Roy Carr; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Johnson; and dear friend, Ruth Moore. She is survived by her children, Thomas R. Johnson (Catherine), Carolyn J. Cole (Lee), Robert B. Johnson (Peggy Miller), Louise J. Brenner and Donna Carr, all of Delaware City; sisters, June Carr and Bernice Horn, both to Tazewell, VA; brother, Larry Carr (Peggy) of Cedar Bluff, VA; sisters-in-law, Deborah Carr of Smyrna and Esther Carr of Tazewell, VA; daughter-in-law, Mae Johnson of Port Penn; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm on Friday afternoon, December 23, 2016 in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a funeral service will be held at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park. on December 21, 2016.6

Born June 14, 1935 in Newhall, WV, she was a daughter of the late Eldridge Isaac and Ethel Audra Craighead Carr. She was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ. Miss Carr had worked at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery and Dunford Roofing as a CPA with over fifty years experience. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Helena Johnson; brothers, Jack Melvin Carr and Roy Lee Carr; brothers in law, Ralph Johnson and Carnes Horn. The family would like to express special thanks to Brenda, Devon, and MSA Hospice of Richlands, VA for the loving care they provided. She is survived by her brother, Larry Carr and wife, Peggy of Cedar Bluff, VA; sister, Bernice Horn of North Tazewell, VA; sisters in law, Ester Carr of North Tazewell, VA and Deborah Carr of Smyrna, DE; special niece, Melissa Anderson; friend and special caregiver, Dolly Shrader and many other nieces and nephews. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum at Bluewell, WV. He was a member of the El Bethel House of God in Baptist Valley Virginia. He is survived by his wife of fourty years, Bernice Carr Horn. Two daughters, Shelia Horn Shrader and husband J. J. and thier children, Winkie Shrader, Skylar Shrader and Stormie Shrader all of Springville Virginia and Denise Horn Mabe and her son Steven Mabe. Four sisters, Mayolla Horn Roseman, Ann Horn White and husband Reese White all of Orlando Fla., Dorothy Horn Matney and husband Bill Matney of North Tazewell Virginia and Jeanette Horn Ratliff and husband Jack Ratliff of Baptist Valley Virginia. Three brothers, Roy Horn and wife Brenda, Russell Horn and wife Carole all of Baptist Valley Virginia and Hubert Horn and wife Sandy of North Tazewell Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at two Friday at Perry & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell Virginia with the Rev. Sammy Barnett officiating. Survivors in addition to his father include one son, Stacy Allen Fortin; two sisters, Sharon Discepolo and husband, Carl of Enfield, Conn., and Rebecca Bobbie and husband, Dave of Shelton, Conn; and one brother, Jackie Conner and wife, Gail of Princeton. on July 20, 2000.3

Eva Pearl Redden was buried at Hutchens Family Cemetery, Dunns, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3 Her Social Security Number was 234-48-6370.4 She was born on March 14, 1933 at Grandview, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2,4,5,3 As of July 14, 1950,her married name was Hutchens.2 She married Ellsworth Edward Hutchens, son of Charles Edward Hutchens and Lelia Laverna Conner, on July 14, 1950 at Lewisburg, Greenbrier Co., West Virginia.1,2,5 Eva Pearl Redden died on December 19, 2007 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 74.4,5,3 She Eva P. Hutchens, 74, of Ghent, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at the CAMC Memorial Division following a sudden illness. Born March 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Paul and Nettie Pearl Stover Redden. Eva was an extremely talented seamstress with over 37 years experience with Maidenform in Princeton and was a Certified Nursing Assistant, finishing at the head of her class. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Delbert and George Redden. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ellsworth Edward Hutchens of Ghent; two sons, Edward Lee Hutchens of Lexington, Ky., and Russell Ray Hutchens of Cornelia, Ga; three daughters, Sharon Lynn Hutchens Lowe of Poca, Sandra Kay Hutchens Nichols of Lexington, Ky., and Melissa Rene Hutchens Arthur of Graniteville, S.C; a brother, Royal Gene Redden of Pomerene, Ariz; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two very special friends, Mary Francis Titta and Lisa Lilly, both of Ghent. At Mrs. Hutchen'? request, she was cremated and a private memorial service with the family will be held at a later date.
